Right, after having a discussion with my brother we were speaking of great bands in the 90's.

I think Ocean Colour Scene have to be one of the most underrated bands ever produced in the UK. Especially the song below

Anyone else got any views on underated bands/solo's etc

:biggrin3:

Ocean Colour Scene ????
Are you kidding?

After hearing the lead singer whine on and on for a whole summer.... many people just thought "will you please just shut the f*ck up".

Maybe it was all just overplayed a tad.

+1 or Queen. Huge here in the UK relative unknowns elsewhere particularly the US.

OCS are one of the best 'live' bands out there, but the song from the top post is one of thier pooiest.
Doves are another stupidly good live but don't get the air play either.
Embrace could do with a come back cause they too were (you can tell whats coing can't you)a great live band even if danny's voice can be <beep>

Hmmm... not a huge OCS fan, but can the occasional track was to my liking.

A few of my mid-90's underrated bands:

The Longpigs - Their album, The Sun Is Often Out is a non-stop string of win, win, win tracks!

Marion - Again, what about their ablum This World and Body - brilliant!

Placebo - another vote for Placeo for me. Underratd? Hmmm... think they got some regocnition / success so maybe not relevant, but their 1st ablum is excellent. Teenage Angst was my favourite single for a long time, and of course who could forget singing along to 'Bruce Springsteen' (Bruise Pristine)!!!

Mansun - seemed to tail off after The Attack of the Grey Lantern in my opinion, but still enjoyed watching them live a few times.

Heavy Stereo - Deja Voodo was a good album but they dissapeared soon after (and Gem joined Oasis).

I miss the 'good old days' when you popped a CD on and listened to it from start to finish in the car. Now the iPod is on 'shuffle / all' mode, I very rarely get any of these gems crop up, but the volume goes up when they do appear.

Ah the 90's... where did I put my Louise Wener poster

Apart from Heavy stereo (didn't really get into them) i agree with everything above
Sleeper were bloody ace too. Look on 'YouTube' for 'TFI friday' stuff and you get loads of bloody great music, good memory's of the show and video of Werner!!!
