Marco Simoncelli - RIP

Post by ShaneyB » Sun Oct 23, 2011 3:36 pm

I'm devastated.

The most exciting talent on the grid in Moto GP and now he's gone at 24 years old!

Horrific crash and mine and my son's thoughts are with his family, friends and of course Valentino Rossi.

He will be sorely missed.

Did not see any of it as in Spain and doing the cultural thing but read reports online and sound awful - kind of glad I missed it. He was already a star but had the makings of a super star - such a sad end to a prolific talent and at such a young age...

Tragic tragic accident and my thoughts are with his family and friends. RIP Marco

Very sad, must be awful for those caught up in the accident too.

RIP.

Particularly Rossi who's a close family friend to Marco. His bike looked like the one that took the helmet off and he was in the medical centre when they were trying to revive him.

I reckon Rossi will retire and go upstairs.

F*ck, as I say I did not see any footage but sounds even worse than the reports I had read.
Feel awful for Rossi, it was an accident but don't know how you would get over that. As you say he was a bit of a mentor to Marco..... No one involved deserves any of this but I guess with any motor sport there is all ways the inherent risk, still deeply shocking though

Would be hard to carry on, but as they say that's racing and he would of wanted those involved to continue.

A biker friend of mine a had a mate who got killed on a bike track day at Donington Park, the track was closed while the Police carried out their investigation, they all went out once the track was reopened as it is what he would have wanted.

I regularly track a bike (Fireblade) and couldn't believe what I was seeing! To see a bike going off track then gain traction and come back into the racing line was rare IMHO. Momentum was taking him into the gravel and had he let go he would have slid to relative safety.

I've lost a few friends on the road in bike accidents and it isn't very nice. That's why my wife doesn't want me to get another one for the road but if it's in your blood you'll carry on regardless.

For me he was the next BIG thing and I loved watching him work. Gutted.

Agree, it did look a strange one, fate has dealt him a cruel blow.

RIP very sad indeed.

A bad week for motorsports with the death of Dan Weldon.

Apparently his crash helmet was one size larger because of his enormous hair. I wonder if that was one of the reasons it came off when he crashed?
