Hi,

I have a Sony media pc that runs vista :x and it is always thrashing the hard drive and being unresponsive. I have disabled the indexing, superfetch and the automatic degraf but it continues to be unresponsive and thrashing the hdd.

I cannot think of what else can be disabled to make it useable, can anyone make any suggestions before I decide to kick the crap out of it  . I'm am not keen on buying windows 7 as i just don't trust microsoft, the experience with vista has just been awful.

How RAM is installed, and when you open Task Manager, what does it show for Physical memory stats, and commit charge?

Sounds like there's maybe not enough memory, and the system is constantly paging.

What kind of HDD is it ? How much ram have you got installed ?
CHanging to win7 wouldn't be a bad idea since Vista is just pure evil.
