I'm using it on my old Dell D810, which is now 5 years old!!

It runs well, better than Vista, though finding some drivers can be a bit problematic. Most Vista drivers will work fine though as it's actually built from the old Vista core.

There are lots of reviews & comparisons around between Vista v Win7 or whether you should upgrade to Win7.

Here#s one, here

I've been using it for a few weeks now on my older systems and it runs far better than Vista ever did.

Initially I didn't see the benefit of having your apps on the taskbar as they appear on Windows 7 (it's changed slightly from the previous versions of Windows), but now I find it much easier to work with and a lot less cluttered.

Home networking I've found is much easier.

I do however have two issues which I find annoying (although both can be worked around).

1) You are forced to use Windows Media Player 12 with Windows 7. This works slightly different to version 11 and as a result, I now have to manually add new files to WMP if I want my Xbox 360 to be able to stream them from my PC (the older version would pick them up automatically). I'm sure a patch will sort that out soon though.

2) My shareware version of Vagcom freezing quite often under Windows 7. I need to re-install it (Vagcom) in order to get it to run without freezing. I'm sure it's just some daft Windows security setting that I need to disable, but I can live with it.

Overall, it get's the thumbs up from me.

Windows 7 is fantasic!!!!

Knocks spots off Vista, far more stable.

You might a have a few problems with drivers to start with

Should pay for VAGCOM and you won't have a problem ;-)

OK, I will most prob buy a new laptop with it on all ready. Are there any free upgrades for Vista users or do I have to purchase it?
