Speeding Ticket - Offence Code ZA11?!

I sadly got picked up for speeding in the M Coupe on the way to view an RS4 at the weekend, and tonight was just getting my license together to produce at a station when I noticed the Offence Code the chap put on the ticket:

ZA11 - Excess Speed

Ticket is a usual £60 and 3 points but can't find any note or record of that offence code. I assume it will end up as either an SP30 or SP60 (was 90 on a dual carriage-way) but why would they put ZA11 on the ticket?

Any thoughts? Worth checking out with the cops or should I just take it on the chin?

Cheers
Jon

Thats bad luck mate, I am sure it will just end up being an SP60.

Lucky there were none about on the way up to the airballoon in the RS :beerchug:

Id check very carefully if that code is legit, if its not, then your receipt as such is amissable in a court of law as evidence.

I doubt very much they'd cock it up, but if they have, then you have a technical get out.

May mean a court appearace though, and depends on how far you reckon you can go, and get a brief to say its not a valid case as the paperwork is incorrect.

Well I'm going to go and produce my license today at the local station so will ask them what the deal is with the code... will be interested to see what they say!!

I do have a solicitor as it happens (one of my clients, which is handy), will check with him what he thinks too :)

After a discreet enquiry, it would appear that the code relates to a non-specified speeding charge.

Apparently these are normally applied when the speed is averaged over a large distance.

If you were followed for a bit then this may be the answer in your case.........

Sorry, but it would seem to be quite correct. :(

I was averaged over 2.2 miles at jsut under the ton and recevied a specific code of SP30 and the average speed noted on the ticket. If there is no average speed quoted then maybe the ticket is not valid? An undefined speeding offence is SP60.

You could be right, I was only passing on what I was told by a Police officer friend of mine.

On the subject of your SP60, have you seen this?
