Mr Blower and S4TAN, in the ‘emigrating thread’, raised a number of interesting points about the Christian religion. In an attempt to keep the original thread ‘on-topic’, anyone who may wish to continue the debate is welcome here.
Mr Blower - You seem to have gone a bit quiet, and have not answered some of the questions raised in the other thread, and I have some more…but it seems you have the capacity and dedication to your faith to look for the answers.

The rapture :
It seems to me that there is much disagreement amongst rapture proponents over when the rapture will occur, and that 4 different views actually predominate - prior to the ‘Tribulation’, mid-way through the Tribulation, after the Tribulation, and the so-called Pre-Wrath view.I do believe in the rapture.

As for the Jews, God warned them way back in Leviticus and Deuteronomy that if they forgot him and forsook his commandments, that they would suffer greatly, be persecuted, killed, their children killed in front of their eyes,taken to lands which they did know etc.

From the examples you have given, and I’m sure there are many more, it seems clear to me that far from being the ‘saviour’, ‘all good’, and ‘merciful’, that your god is on the same level as a modern day terrorist. In fact, if he/she/it has the power you suggest, then I would say it puts him/her/it on an even more unsavoury level, by abusing such power.God is still patient with you and hasn't zapped you yet.
Falsehoods :

Firstly, assuming that the definition of a god is some form of supernatural being, please explain why there should be only one god.It is not very hard to show that Allah is a false god.
Secondly, in what way is Allah false? What proof do you have? What status does Allah have?
Contradictions :
Blower and S4TAN have exchanged views on the contradictions in the bible, but I have noted some contradictions within Blower's own writings :
On the one hand Blower says :

(in fact, another reference to threats of terrorism here)God is peaceful and merciful......but like any human being, don't get on the wrong side of him.
Another one is :
Your assumption again is automatically thinking that these people were good, God fearing folks who were living clean lives.
This point has been raised before, but it is interesting to note your view that to be ‘good’ and live ‘clean lives’, people should fear your god. Scary.
But then :
A few questions arising on this version :another reason why he doesn't fully reveal himself to people, if he did then folks would only worship and serve him out of fear not love out of their own choice.
In what way does ‘he’ partially reveal himself?
Why would people be in fear of him if they knew he really existed? The terrorist angle maybe?
Or indeed, may I be so bold as to suggest that there is perhaps another reason why he doesn’t reveal himself??
Miscellaneous :
Mr Blower is making reference here to the catholic religion. Are you seriously suggesting that this has never happened in your ‘christian’ churches??Its not surprising what they are getting up to in terms of buggering children.
This is an interesting one. If this is so, did your god make some mistakes with this intelligence that he/she/it gave man to rectify problems that would occur? Is he/she/it not responsible for what must have been an inappropriate program/level of intelligence?When God made man, he made him caretaker of this earth meaning that God gave man the intelligence to rectify any problems that would occur.
Quite simply : why?? I have the impression that your god is all powerful, and that he will determine exactly when the ‘rapture’ happens. But if, as you promulgate, ‘he’ does need man’s permission, who on earth is he going to ask exactly…?? Clearly not the Pope. And who would have such a high level of authority to allow/invite him back? Should a worldwide referendum not be held? How would he deal with all the other religions on this earth? Simply ‘zap’ them perhaps?Since he also removed himself out of the earth, he now needs man's permission to come in.
Another interesting one. This was also directed at S4TAN.Having not gone to heaven yourself, how can you draw conclusions about the ordinances and how things run up there?
How do you know that he has not been to heaven? Have you been there? If not, how do you know how things are run ‘up there’?
I don’t think there’s any disputing that Jesus lived, or even that he preached his religion. The unproven ‘fact’ is whether he was the son of a supernatural being, known as “Godâ€As for extra biblical references to Christ, I suggest you pick up a book called The Archko Volume. Josephus, a first century jewish historian also attests to Christ living. Even the enemies of christianity at the time wrote about Christ and his spreading faith. The evidence is there mate, you just don't want to see it.
