North South divide?

Post by CliveH » Tue Jan 29, 2008 5:13 pm

Somebody told me this one, just a little while ago...

Two London businessmen were sitting down for a break in their soon-to-be new store.

As yet, the store wasn't ready, with only a few shelves set up. One said to the other, "I bet any minute now some thick tourist is going to walk by, put his face to the window and ask what we're selling."

No sooner were the words out of his mouth when, sure enough, a curious Yorkshireman walked to the window, had a peek, and in a broad Yorkshire accent asked "What's tha sellin' ere?"

One of the men replied sarcastically, "We're selling arse-holes."

Without skipping a beat, the Yorkshireman said, "Tha's doing well then... Only two left!"

The moral for Southerners - Don't mess with Yorkshiremen!!!

One of the rare occasions I laughed on the computer
A Mercedes owner knows they made the wrong decision when their car rusts like a Lancia.

A BMW owner knows they made the wrong decision when their car is more common than a Mondeo.

An Audi owner knows they made the right decicision when they fly by the Mercedes and BMW owners.

This Warning has been issued by West Yorkshire Police.

Clubbers in the North of England ( Yorkshire area) have recently taken

to injecting ecstasy directly into their mouths using dental syringes.

This practice is extremely dangerous and should be avoided at all costs.

If you are approached by a Northerner offering you 'E by gum',

immediately report them to the police.

So I am sat here laughing hard but wondering if this humour would be frowned on because it contains sarcasm and crude humour along with references to drugs. (I just read out the above joke from GrahamS4 to the laughter of my team here, so thanks Graham!) Would these be classed as "adult humour" according to the morality police? 8)

Oh, and if you wish to keep such good humour then it would be worth you voting here:

Grant - you've captured the very essence of the debate - nicely done, thank you.

Maybe the Chief Inspector of the Morality Police should publish guidelines as to what is, and what is not, funny. Then we'll all know won't we, and can follow accordingly.
