95db noise limit at the 'ring...

...is now going to be strictly enforced. There are discussions on the ringers forum at present and it seems that due to noise complaints this is going to become quite strictly enforced.

As is TUV approval for modifications! The executive summary is that police and TUV inspectors will be at the Ring carrying out checks on cars that cause them concern. Cars which, when checked, cannot show that they are legal and safe will not be allowed access. It is likely that heavily-modified cars will get the most attention: cages, harnesses, stripped interiors, etc. However, it is understood that checks will be carried out only when they have some concern, not on a random basis.

Looks like we'll have to invest in dB meters to check, might be worth seeing what exhaust setup is best suited to the 'Ring.
I gather some UK circuits have also started to lower their noise limits too . . .

I bet its a pisser living near a track with noisy cars and bikes every weekend (or every day), but what about the poor gits who live near football fields. On Sundays you get thick arrogant gits that park on your grass verge, making where you live look like their run down arse cavity of a housing estate. Then they shout and swear constantly. Only interrupted with normal words like..'you' 'glasses' 'fat' 'referee' This happens two roads from where I live...

The feds have stopped all the lads on off road motorcycles from going anywhere actually off road so they now blast anywhere they can without getting caught. I say next it should be Sunday 'pretend footballers' to be noise tested.

static or driveby?

i was 99dB (coldish) and 100dB at CC - that is 4500rpm static. But the driveby was 105dB at donny, 103dB with the cans.

Don't worry, saw your car yesterday and it was very quiet!

:D

Meters are available from Maplins, quite cheap. It might be worth getting one at MRC so Doug can keep a league table of all the cars that go through, or at least thats a suggestion as he would be best placed on a daily basis.

Static.
Form Ben Lovejoy's..
There are three ways you can get tested.
First, if your car or bike seems noisy to the marshalls at the barriers, you will be pulled over for a static test.
Second, if your vehicle triggers one of the trackside noise-meters, the office will be alerted and you'll be tested at the end of the lap.
Third, some random testing is done in the car-park.
Testing is done with the meter held at a 45-degree angle approximately 1 metre from the exhaust, with the engine revs at 2/3rds of redline. One marshall checks the revs while another reads the noise-level.

oooo. this may seriously change my exhuast plans..... was hoping for a 3inch straight through no cats with 2 silencer boxes..... If a std miltek dual with cats was on the limit then that system would stand no chance!!!
Thing is, S4s and the like are quieter because of the turbos, the noise restrictions must be really killing some of the old school NA guys with pinto engines etc...

They have always tested loud cars at the ring, its nothing new but it will be interesting to see if they put more effort in this year.
