RS246 web site supporter

Post by RSVI » Mon Feb 05, 2007 7:34 pm

This is part of a PM i sent to a moderator and decided to post some of it as a topic.
.......................................................................................................................

Just an idea, other forums ask for donations that helps the site.

With a donation you get a sticker or key ring or what ever. You also get between your user name and avatar a site supporter icon. i.e. "RS246 site supporter" with a logo.

Is this something we could do?

People spend a lot of time on here and it's not much for some to support a useful site with a £20-30 donation as a way of saying thanks.
This then goes towards the overheads that need to be paid to keep the site running, Server, electrics, maintenance, admin, search engine optimisation etc etc.

No one has to be obliged to donate, i just feel it would be a nice idea and an easy way to say thanks.

I think it's fair to say, the most of us have a £10k+ motor, so £10,20,30 isn't going to break the bank.

Maybe there could be some kind of rs246/Audi quarterly news letter?

Maybe it's a good idea, maybe it's not.

I wouldn't mind helping with a donation, this site has helped me out and saved me time on finding answers and opening my eyes on the RS6's

I've said before that it'd be a good idea, i can imagine the costs involved hosting this site with the number of hits it gets and of course there's the likes of Phil's time playing with servers and the new format to take into account. a little bit of appreciation wouldn't go amiss in my view.

Bloodyhell, I had to read that twice. Thought you were being a little generous.

£10,200.30 Is too much for me at the moment but will glady contribute none the less.

More than happy to donate to the site, after all the better the site is (and it is already excellent) the more we ALL benefit.
I think it's true to say that we can all hold up our hands and say that the advise we have received on here from members has saved us a small fortune at the stealers.

I wasn't sure whether or not to agree with you or to give my hard earned money to Juniperus. After careful consideration and reading the jokes, I would happily contribute towwards the sight. Sorry Juniperus you'll have to fund another Audi differently

Very nice of you guys, but currently we have to be careful about the income that the tax man sees. We are looking at ways to improve the situation with regards to site growth and potential...

Dare I say it, but you could grow the 'Forum' into a 'Club'

Might even get Gold for best club then...

Trust me, I wish wish it was as simple as just saying we're a club, send us yer cash, and let's take advantage of the turnover the site is capable of..... Nothing is simple in this world, especially with the new laws on fraud, money laundering, terrorism, etc...

Running the sites is a substancial amount of work and isn't easily shared remotely. Soon (circa 3 - 6 months) we will have someone to fill this position.
