Goodwood Festival of Speed 2007...

Post by cosmicremedy » Thu Jan 04, 2007 11:37 am

Been wanting to go to this for a couple of years now, so gonna go this year i think. Has anyone been before? I have been looking at the tickets on the Goodwood web site and there are various ones to buy.... you can buy general admission for £90 (weekend ticket) and then you can pay for various Grandstands...?

Anyone had any experiences with anything to do with the Festival of Speed...?

Well i'm thinking of going for the Saturday and Sunday and was just wondering what the spectating positions were like, if you don't book Grandstand seats?

If your prepared to get there early and then not move you can view from the House area. If your prepared to walk a bit you and see lot's more further up the track. Grandstand tickets are nice but pricey. A lot of the attraction is being able to wander around the Paddock areas and the Stands and I always feel that if I buy Grandstand Seats I should be sat in them....

Sunday is much busier that Saturday and all the days are pre-sold ticket only now. It's a great day out, petrol head paradise....You should try and get to the Revival as well as that is proper racing.

If you go on the Friday one grandstand tickets covers all grandstands, so you can walk about and take a seat when you like. I prefer to get a grandstand ticket myself, especially to shelter from the rain :)

Agree with Jeff, Revival is great too

Good day out though

Was sure when i went on the Festival of Speed site the other day you had to buy a ticket for a specific Grandstand. I was thinking it's a bit of a risk, you could end up in a not so good place? i'll have to check it out, maybe i've missed something

I went on Friday and Saturday last year, both good but i was knackerd with all the walking up the hill to the rally stage. A stand ticket would be good if only to take a rest!

I didn't go last year due to another commitment, but went the previous 3 years. Recommend going on a Friday and getting grandstand tickets, as previously mentioned, you can move from one grandstand to another. And, believe it or not, they're good for sheltering from the baking sun!

One of the best bits for me is walking around the upper and lower paddocks. You can get so close to the cars, it's incredible.

We've been for the last 5 years and have full weekend grandstand tickets. Friday is a brill day for getting around the paddocks cos they are not so busy.
