Found this on the weekend at an antiques fair.

Apparently it's a brunton compass, there's loads of info on the web about them.

Only £20, I think it's realy nice.

It's an italian espresso maker from Brevetti and Robiati (circa 1950s) that you can use directly on your stove : fill it with water, turn on the gas/electricity and the pressurized water climbs the curved handle into the coffe doser. You place your cup right beneath it.
Quite a clever system, and definitely portable for those days (it's smaller than today's electrical ones).

It has a hell of a look, straight from the "Atomic Age", really unique.
When people see it for the first time, they all go like "what the heck is that ?".

I first discovered these at a friend's house in Melbourne, Australia. She was regularly using it -has a steamer too for cappucino-.

Strangely, it seems the best location to buy these are Australian antics shops. There's also one or two on sale on Ebay, but from Australian dealers (that's how I bought mine, in working condition).

Will typically go for USD 350-500 depending on condition, stock accessories and instruction manual.
