Is it a fair cop?

Post by harry » Wed Apr 19, 2006 7:15 pm

10 am clear, dry day light traffic no pedestrians. Approaching interchange lights on amber I'm committed but not speeding, lights change to red as I pass through the junction the car on my inside has stopped at the lights ahead of them changing. Car reveals itself as undercover plod blue lights siren pull over son 3 points and a £60 fine. Up ye!

All rants accepted as cathartic remedy.

spent much money arguing the same as yourself with nice magistrate.......... highway code states you must always be driving in a manner which will allow you to brake and pull up.............

Amber means stop,at the stop line, you may go on only if the Amber appears after you have crossed the stop line or are so close to it that to pull up might cause an accident..highway code page 78 section on traffic lights.
if the car next to you managed to stop and you didnt then im afraid they have you bang to rights..

when do they come off? Three years? and is it automatic or do you have fill out feckin forms, get your licence lost in the post, re-order another one, send it back cos they've spelt your name wrong etc etc?

Same thing happend to my brother a few years back , the cop was sitting at the junction as we went through on amber . After stopping us he then decides that i did not have my seat belt on ( 8.30 pm ) it's dark and he's a good 80ft away . So it's a shut up and take 3 points or get another 3 as he want's to be a <beep> ! what a wa--er. They just love to make money out of us all.... g

its not that its a lose/lose situation its just that they rely on people not fighting the case and swallowing the points/fine they give..your'll be suprised what u can get away with if u fight it..but the possible dwn side is a bigger fine or more point..but thats not always the case..
