HSBC Card Fraud: Midlands

Post by K2 » Fri Apr 07, 2006 7:38 am

Waning to all who bank with HSBC. Someone in the worcester area is cloning cards and sending the details to bangkok, where cash is withdrawn from ATM macchines at the rate of 20,000 Baht a day,(£305)
I had over a grand taken from my account before i found out.
The trouble is I only withdraw cash from inside banks, and never let my card out of sight in shops. So how my card has been cloned is a complete mystery. Police are not ruling out someone getting into the bank system. So watch your accounts like a hawk if you bank with HSBC.
On the positive side I get my money back, but only after an investigation which could last for three months!!!

It was 2 BP garages in worcester, all the people involved at the stations have been caught by plod, and have been released on bail. I think they had a hidden camera over the card pont on the till, mounted in a flourescent light fitting within a suspended ceiling. At least HSBC have given me my cash back.
