Hi all
I have just sent an email to the highways agency regarding stone chips to cars from gritting lorries. This is one of my pet hates, am i the only person who gets frustrated with this or do any of you also get frustrated.
If so please poll above, and maybe send an email to
ha_info@highways.gsi.gov.uk
If enough people complain maybe they will do something about it.

The only thing they will do is stop gritting the roads and i would prefer a stone chip or two verses my car in ditch after hitting ice.......... sit back and let the gritter do its work if you are following it, or pull over if it is coming towards you....... shouldn't miss it, gert big yellow thing with flashing lights warning you it is at work

Gritters I can live with. I would be happier if they were more expedient when it came to filling in potholes.

Mate, I hate gritters too, but a necessary evil. When I had an office in Warrington I used to hate meeting one on the M5 on the way home. I would simple sit a fair distance behing travelling at the same speed as the gritter. Sometimes it would add 40mins to the journey. Anyway this is nothing compared to the gritters in the forest, one passed me the other day on a small forest A road doing about 40-50mph and completely covered the front of the van. I was well fecked off, but glad to be in the van. Again, no point in argueing really though as they deffo need to grit the forest roads. I am told trees hurt..
But Yes, I hate gritters also

Yeah I dislike gritters, but the sad fact of life is that so many people out there are incapable of controlling their own cars if there is ice about and they are the ones likely to skid into you...I am assuming (quite rightly) that we are capable drivers and can control our cars....

Totally uneccessary when they fly past my parents house at 40 mph covering cars parked on both sides of the road! My Dad has recently sent a letter of complaint after such an incident happened when I was home last. It's a 30 mph limit by the way and a quiet street!
I got a good dusting only the other week with one travelling in the opposite direction to me. Lots of pin head sized chips all over my bonnet
Fact of life I guess. How about government issued studded tyres
