child seat No 2

Post by dog » Mon Nov 22, 2004 1:44 pm

I got the Britex ISOFIX duo for my "big" girl last time. Now with the second arrival, I am out to get a second seat. Any new advances that you know?

I saw this on another forum recently. It's a UK store but I guess Recaro is international?

Thanks Scotty. Does it come as an ISOFIX thing?

ermmm.......most fathers dont carry kids in their RS4's, I only do under duress and then they are searched for crisps, sweets and chewing gum before they get in, I still find the rear ash tray cramed with sweetpapers when I cleaning the car :kissmyrings:

Unfortunately not. I really do need to start looking at this in more detail. I think the next 4.5months are going to fly by!

No food or drinks are allowed in the car for the reasons you outline Simple.
I think I have about 6 months before I have to do something about the child seat problem. That Recaro is really nice but not ISOFIX. The problem is that the Britex ISOFIX duo is only good for 19 kg and my little darling is 14 kg now. I have 2 Britex ISOFIX duo seats, one in my car and the other with the capsule in the Allroad.
ps I had 9 hours sleep last night the first time in 4 months, I feel great!

Check with your Audi dealer. The one I have suits children from 18 months to 9 years (it is more like an upright seat than a capsule) and is ISOFIX.

Alternatively get an ISOFIX harness (basically a strap with claws at each end) and use it to secure a non-ISOFIX seat. I have a Graco seat for my 4-year old and use the strap to keep it in place, then use the seat-belt as normal (the Graco seat has a built-in channel to keep the belt at shoulder-height). The only trouble is you can't get these harnesses in the UK so I had to get mine from the US.

If you need further details please let me know.

Audi rip us off with ISOFIX, as it costs them virtually nothing and is free/standard on VW and Skoda. Nevertheless it's a great foolproof system.

Dippy - What make is your seat, as I need to upgrade my youngest's Britax Duo, and had to choose non-ISOFIX Recaro Start for my oldest since I couldnt find anything suitable back then? Prefer harness which limits movement/escape! than "block and belt" .

Dippy, that is what I want! The Audi dealers are useless here as ISOFIX is illegal at this stage in Australia.( I had to get my ISOFIX Duo from NZ) What brand is it?
