My laptop has succumbed to a mixture of old age and a virus (welchia something-or-other which the usual virus protections seem to be incapable of fixing).
Time to buy a new one then - any recommendations from you techy guys? I am drawn to Dell cos its easy but the current sony has been good. Dont need anything especially fancy.
Thanks

It really depends what you want. If you want a desktop replacement that you don't carry much then there are a number of laptops now running the Athlon 64 bit processer (Acer and Evesham leap to mind), if you want a highly portable light weight box then a Centrino laptop is probable the way to go (Acer again, Sony Z1MP is lovely, IBM Thinkpad or a whole host of others). Really there are lots to choose from and you pays your money and takes your chances.

I've had a Dell laptop for a couple of years, excellent and reliable. Had a Tosh before, which is still going strong as MrsT's PC.
Recommend you buy a branded mark though. Never had a Sony, so couldn't comment.
