Intended Prosecution

For the first time in 13 years, the boys in blue are trying to have me over for speeding. Yes, it seems "someone" has been caught speeding in my car.

Before I return the Notice of Intended Prosecution back incriminating myself, whats the next best step?

Its not as if they have even told me the speed. Just says that the alleged offence is "camera-exceed 40mph limit".

Well thats total BS for a start. I was laser targetted by a policeman standing at the side of the road.

Any tips from other fellow hardened criminals would be most welcome

TIA

Seems like self incrimination to me

Was supposed to say "it was laser targetted" so the driver told me.

tim your writing you own death warrant mate, no if buts or maybes, ask for evidence, if its a laser they should have a registrstion plate and a reading of the said offence with time and place.
its hard to fight unless you have very good mitigating circumstances
good luck

Ta John.

Sounds like a good first step to me.

Seems like a rum way of the police to carry on to me. We arent going to tell you yet how fast you were going, but just fill in the form, plead guilty then we will tell you exactly how hard we are going to come down on you!

Unbelievable.

Cheers

Don't panic. There is a way out if you follow the get out rules very very very carefully. At this stage don't sign ANYTHING or TALK on the telephone to the authorities.
See here . Good luck and I hope you do the ba$tards.
More then happy to discuss off line if you like.

Surely, if they've sent an NIP to the individuals address they will have got the details from the reg number via the DVLA.

I believe they've tightened up on things a lot nowadays as far as signing paperwork etc.

Do a search in the "Law and Related" section of the forum below as they have covered this topic on a few occasions.
(I think more than a few of the members are plods!)

Also check UK Speedtraps site

Its worth going further with this one because the laser may not have been properly sited.

Was it a van or coppers in flourescent jackets?

Also worth checking the police statement about direction of travel etc. Friend of mine took one to court and was thrown out because the police statement was wrong. Sayin he was going down hill when it was uphill etc.
