Sky Digital / Plus

Post by wazza » Mon Nov 03, 2003 6:09 pm

I have an old sky branded digibox at home, we bought it when they were first out. I mean it's nearly as old as John
It plays up too often now - it hangs worse than windoze - and when you use the page down button it takes about three seconds on average to display the page.
I've updated the soft/firmware before anyone asks.

I was wondering if there is an easy fix for this or if it is worth getting a new sky plus box now that the price is reduced?
Which sky plus receiver is best?

We have sky plus and it is ace especially for recording things like top gear where you can set it to record evry episode (series link) it also monitors your viewing and if it thinks you are not watching a program that you usually do it will tape it for you..... think of it like an automated wife minus the sex

That's wicked I will not be able to look my sky box in the face again without thinking ..... NO lets not go there
Paul the sky+ is attracting me as well £199 + £1 fitting and they have dropped the extra £10 month subs .... mind the ordinary subs are going up to £40 a month . Presumably you can choose the make of box ????

Check Sky's website, they sometimes do Internet-only deals. You might also find deals on at places like Currys, Comet, Radio Rentals (do they still exist?) or sometimes local electrical suppliers get a deal package they can pass on. Generally speaking though, unless you're lucky Sky+ will set you back £200. And another £30 when the installer tells you he needs a longer pole to mount the dish on. I think the £10 extra is dropped if you take a premium channel package like sports or movies. I have Sky+ with the Family pack and Movies for about £3 a month more than the FP and movies are on regular Sky - well worth the money as I've recorded about 8 films and never have nothing to watch.
