What do you get in Hi-Fi for £100,000 ?
..and is a £100,000 system twice as good as a £50,000 system or ten times better than a £10,000 system?.......which is still a [censored] load of money for a "record player"

Surely when you're spending that amount on a hi-fi, things like speaker positioning and room shape/furnishings etc make much more difference to the sound than the difference between a 5k and a 15k interconnect cable?

Does the owner have to get his ears syringed every time he puts on a CD, just to make sure he has the optimal listening ability?

This bloke I used to work with had some Cadence speakers with this tin foil type tweeter thing on the top which he reckoned retailed at around £10K (hes had them a good few years now)

Does that sound about right Charlie or is he talking bull?

Please tell me that the £100,000 installation ain't a 100% digital one and DOES include a superb vinyl turn-table and tubes/lamps amplifiers.

IIRC there are so many valves and tubes in JR's house that he makes a useful saving on central heating

"More money than sense" is the phrase that comes to mind here.

Don't get me wrong, I know that cables can make a difference to the sound of a system, but £14k - feck me - and I thought £100 was expensive for an interconnect!

I'd lay money on me not being able to hear a difference between an overpriced £1000 cable and the £14k one though.

Oh, and he paid too much too - the accepted wisdom is that you spend no more than 10% of the overall cost of your system on cabling (well, it is in my neck of the woods, but then again, I don't sell overpriced HiFi to rich b*st*rds).

(it's a joke, JR )

hehe....... i suppose its all about bugets really and how much any individual is wanting to spend.

My setup is really good, might get another sub oneday but i dont think its worth me buying a new one for £900
