Audi-Sport.net rolling road day!

Post by Riz_RS4 » Sun May 18, 2003 9:12 am

Date: 04-May-2003
Location: Well Lane Turbo Centre, Batley near Leeds.

Anyway does anybody remember me being there
I dont think i was.
The first rolling road meeting to be organised via Audi-Sport.net was a great success, with most people who had registered their interest turning up. The event also saw some regulars from RS246.com, namely: PhilT, DavidT, and SiTaS3. In addition to the people below, another couple of lads from Audi-Sport.net (MOSSY, Lee, Riz) turned up late in the afternoon to see what was going on. People who didn't show were: DaveCav and Matt.

How are the Halex cars (S3's) able to acheive such a smoother power/torque delivery with the electornic haldex systems?

I dyno'd my car and the graph was all over the place due to halex cutting in and out the rear diff...

Please explain!

I wish I could explain this. apparently it is down to the way the car is tied down + turning off ESP.

I think it's pretty simple, based on looking at the S3's at G-Force and Well Lane.

At G-Force the cars were fixed with some sort of hook under the suspension (one or two, not sure). When run, the S3's were riding up the rollers and starting to spin the front wheels engaging the Haldex and then moving back and forth on the rollers as they were losing grip front and rear.

At Well Lane, the cars were fixed using towing eyes front and rear and clamped down tightly (pulled down onto the rollers). None of the cars at Well Lane moved visibly during power runs, hence no wheelspin from the fronts on S3's so no haldex problems.

Have a look in my gallery on here to see how my car was strapped down at Well Lane.

Riz,

Why didn't you come along? You'd have been more than welcome to.

If you have anything against as.net, and thus didn't want to come to the meet, then please PM me and I'm sure we can reslove the issues.

But as you can see, a number of guys from here came along, including PhilT. Fun was had by all, and there was no "this forum Vs that forum" confrontations, everyone got on fine. Just as you'd expect it to really, afterall we are all adults.

hehe i didnt even know?

I dont have anything against as.net, just never joined up because i followed the people i knew from the old as.net, which mostly migrated to tyresmoke.net.

But i think if you ask most of the forum members you`ll always have people who post actively in some forums and not it others, the more forums there are the more time you need to keep up with it all! you`ll already start to find members cutting and pasting the same posts and replies in all or two forums!

I still remember the old days...... when it used to only be a S3 forum!.......... ages ago.......

Al_B,

I registered with your website a month or so ago on a couple of occasions, and each time did not, and still have not received confirmation of acceptance....don't know what the issue was/is, but thought I would just let you know, just in case others have problems registering.

Cheers....
