I’m never going to insult anyone for getting an investment decision wrong and losing money on it - as I’ve done the same.

However, crypto - bitcoin in particular - seems to have attracted a bit of a bandwagon following of people that didn’t see any downside risks and thought the price could only head in one direction. People that didn’t understand what they’re buying. There are even stories of people taking out massive debt to buy bitcoin (remortgaging, even).

Getting into debt to make an investment is the wrong thing to do.

There’s always risks associated with any investment.

Yes that did happen as people were jumping on the bandwagon during the hype. You don’t see it now as banks won’t lend for crypto.

Anyone that bought then has no choice but to hodl otherwise they’ll lose money.

That's insane. There must be some deliciously sad stories attached to this...

[ViceTV] So how did you end up like this?
[crackwhore] Well, do you remember the BitCoin rush of 2017? *whilst changing up her handjob technique for her latest client, “John”*
[ViceTV] Were you a banker or a trader?
[crackwhore] Oh heck no sweetie, I was 'homemaker', we had it all, condo, cars, holiday home, widescreens, two-door fridges, and coffee-enemas. *in a husky voice* C'mon hunny, put it all over mommas chest for me *John's posture is now starting to double over, clenching fists, neck arching with eyes firmly closed. The ViceTV soundman nervously steps behind the cameraman*
[ViceTV] But as a 'homemaker' what made you best informed to the perils of BitCoin investment and trading?
[crackwhore] I had decided it best to bet everything we had after I'd read a thread on RS246.com, it was a sure thing according to those guys. So, after blowing my husband one Monday night, I dropped the question whilst reapplying my lipstick, he mumbled something and it was all agreed.
[John] OH DEAR GOD, HERE COMES THE GUNK YOU CHEAP DIRTY WHORE! *John stands bolt-upright just as a stream of John batter hits the crackwhore’s décolletage with such force it sprays flecks onto the cameraman, back-alley brickwork and nearby refuse bags. The ViceTV soundman can be heard dry-retching as the cameraman stoically pans out to the fading shudder of John’s vingar strokes*
[ViceTV] Do you have any advice for our viewers at this point in your life now?
[John] *sobbing and handing over $15USD, tears streaming down his middle-aged face*
[crackwhore] *to the jangling of belt-tightening and a zipper closing* Never eat 12hrs before tricking a married John, those guys always want it Greek style. *now looking down her chest and trowelling an abundance of spooze out of her cleavage with a wet-wipe*…and always short your BitCoin just like FOREX; never just stick it in a wallet or you’ll be getting rekt in a sticky mess right like me right now.

Yes, I'm bored... and this is 'the' most popular thread on 246 at the moment... says it all.
No matter where you go, there you are.

I picked up two back in 2013 for £10 each that I'd totally forgotten about till a couple of months ago. Price has gone crazy the last few weeks.

I've used this place without any issues:

If you want an app to buy and sell then Coin Base is very easy to use.

This is interesting reading...so it turns out the cheapest place to mine Bitcoins (by a country mile) is Venezuela. $531/bitcoin, vs $8,402/bitcoin in the UK....due to practically free electricity. This has apparently lead to prolific mining, and all sorts of shady behaviour.

Venezuela Bitcoin mining sounds like a 21st century Narcos (Cryptos? Coming to Netflix soon!):

Don’t think there’s much mining going on right now. Just not profitable at the moment overall.

Yes South America maybe cheap for electricity costs but it’s so unstable as a country. And no one in there right mind would mine in the UK.

The BCH hard fork has been a nightmare for BTC.

Also people saying btc is done, well this has happened before so the bounce will come...just not sure when exactly.

Until still making deals but it’s a lot harder now.

I've got more bitcoin now than I ever have, it's just a shame it's not worth much right now  . The last 12 month has been great educationally, it's got me into trading traditional markets and learning about trading in general. Every cloud and all.
