Garage build

Post by kent_andy » Sun Jul 30, 2017 7:17 am

I know how we all love a good building thread so I thought I would post mine.

We bought our house around 18 months ago and it already has a detached double garage, however it is surrounded by some dead space. With my desire for a track car extending the current garage will enable be to create a track garage separate from the kids toys.

So I submitted a planning application as I am building closer to the road, therefore couldn't be covered under permitted development, and it was refused by the council on the grounds of impact on green belt. So I started the appeal process, researched other similar applications in my area and wrote my appeal, and as of last week, it was approved. :jump_clap:

So onto pictures.....

Structural drawings and depth of footings are currently being discussed as there are some mature trees behind, so looking like 2m deep footings.

Planning to ether put in a pit or a lift. I will have the height to put in a lift. The current garage I skimmed the ceiling and put loads of led downlighters in so that I could use the loft space. No need for the loft on the new part so I can go higher

This is what it's like in the current garage. Although I've sold both cars now, steveG has the rs.

This looks like it's going to be awesome. Bet you're excited. What cars do you have now? Saw you old C6 has just got a new owner. :thumb:

A new Range Rover sport for family duties and a 240i vert. Need a track car and another special car but want to build the garage first so I have somewhere to keep it.

Sounds like it will be the perfect fleet of cars for all occasions. What's in the short list for the track car?

I nearly bought one but had nowhere to put it or a tow car.

Now I can use the wife RRS to tow it 😇

If I undertand the drawings correctly you're keeping the left existing garage wall in place and some sort of back wall. Surley it would better to have the left and back walls knocked down to create a large open garage?
