eBay rant

Post by R16_W_RS » Mon Mar 14, 2016 7:54 pm

Recently sold an iPad on eBay.
Was couriered by Parcelforce.
Item was delivered and signed for with PoD
The buyer is saying he hasn't received it, even though the PoD signature was his at his address but he swears he was at work at the time of delivery.
No he's asking for a refund from me as its not delivered. Surely I'm safe as I have followed procedure? Even purchased the shipping through eBay!
Something is very odd...

I thought insurance only covered lost / damaged goods. This was clearly delivered and signed for by the buyer, but he says it wasn't him! If this is some kind of scam I'm not sure how it's going to pan out

eBay rant

It's a scam. I've seen it plenty of times!!! It's been signed for at his delivery address, as I understand it that's pretty much your end of the bargain fulfilled. Does it say the last name of the person who signed it?

Another one I had once was the seller saying he received the item, but nothing in the package...

Yes the names match from the order and who signed for it. He's saying it's easy for someone to sign for it when the name is on the parcel. But surely the delivery driver has to deliver it to the address or leave it with a "you were out card"

Yeah, parcelforce owe you and explanation. They need to speak to the driver and find out exactly what happened, or you may be screwed

Why would the owe me an explanation? As far as I am concerned it was delivered and signed for by the person who bought it!

In theory yes but parcel force / Royal Mail can be quite evasive . I've used carriers for 20 plus years and they are shocking . I've used fedex for a few years and never had a problem ( one item lost over that time and paid out sharpish ) business post as was could be fun too . I'd go through the process and see how it pans out . I chased something up that we were waiting for and it was allegedly carded and it never was and arrived battered to hell with Royal Mail

I didn't take any extended cover out. This won't have any bearing will it? As I understood it that was only to cover damaged items?

eBay rant

Put some pressure on the buyer abit, tell him your ringing his local post office + parcelforce depot to tell them you never received it, and that they are starting an investigation.

You may be supervised how quick this parcel 'magically' turns up.

You can also call/contact eBay to open a case and get the ball rolling in case it starts to get nasty. As you bought the postage through them, they may have an inside contact who can look into it a bit more.

Make sure the tracking number has been uploaded too.
