Mid life crisis

Post by Boggle73 » Thu Jun 05, 2014 8:56 pm

When I reached 40, there was only one thing missing from my life. A Motorbike.
I had wanted to do it for years, but the other half said NO.

Anyway, started training last November and finally passed today. I have done it gradually, and it's all gone well.
Just been out for my first solo ride, and now I regret not doing it 15 years ago. What an amazing feeling.

Looking forward to a nice summer to get some practice in.

Jay.

Bought a new Triumph Street Triple 675.

It had been an a flood down in Kent, brand new in the showroom.
Was too good value to miss out.

Went out for first ride on my own yesterday. What a fantastic feeling, it's going to be a steep learning curve.
I know what you mean about other road users though, I passed two people yesterday with the wing mirrors tucked in.

Cheers guys.

Nice bike Rick, the speeds sound great. That looks great in the fastest colour too. :)

Nice one Jay! Welcome to the world of two wheels! I passed my direct access in 96' and went out and sold my then Evo 4 and bought a R6. String of R1's later and it's the best feeling ever.

I agree with Rick - each time you get back from a ride it's good to be in one piece. Took me 6 years before I got knocked off - very lucky but the right kit saved me. Anyyyyyywwway - enjoy and safe riding. Find a local gaggle of mates that go out in a sensible fashion and watch their lines and you'll pick up loads...

Enjoy the summer!

The blue carb R1 was an animal!

Thanks Neil,

Nice bikes the R1, an ex work colleague used to have a new one every 2-3 years.
He was a total nutcase though, I used to wonder if he would be missing eventually.

I have a gang of older mates that all have bikes, they are a good bunch. I will do as you say, follow others lines and learn.

Take it easy pal.

Great bike the 675, a mate of mine has just had a great deal on one. I am a sucker for an inline four though with a manic top end scream :FIREdevil:
This is mine
Oh, I'm rather partial to a high revving single as well...the Honda is an absolute beast!!

Had bikes since I was 13 and love them......now I am a bit older, the full on racers have gone out the window as I look like a fat Power Ranger..

Running around on this lil Bobber currently

Image

and have a little restoration project which is a blast from my past...a Suzuki GSXR 1100 K which hopefully should look like this once done.

Must admit, roads are getting more dangerous with drivers really not looking or bothering to look for bikers.

Ride safe and enjoy it..

Thanks Guys,

Some really nice bike in that bunch, that old GSXR looks just like an old mates. That was my first and only Pillion ride, scared me shitless.

MCF, that looks unbelievable. How can you ride that in any form of comfort? I suppose it a proper head turner though.

If it would ever stop raining I might be able to get out, it's bloody June....

It's really only for short trips..lol...surprisingly comfy though. Motor has so much torque down low that it pulls brilliantly. I don't class myself as a typical Harley owner/rider as I love chucking this around the lanes.

Popped up to my mates last night, he has just bought the identical bike on a 10 plate.

Looks brilliant, and sounds the part too.
