More important for me was the Officers statement "I may have been in a rush to answer a call" but didn't need his blues and twos on. So how the hell does he expect joe public to be able to distinguish him in his unmarked 530d as being in a rush from any other aggressive bloke driving a 5 series BMW. I was under the distinct impression the Police had to abide by the same rules and limits of the road unless they had lights on to indicate they were on a call / in a pursuit. Seems they can now do what the hell they like irrespective. And they wonder why they don't get any respect any more.

You have to remember that these officers are sometimes quite young and new in post. Give them a powerful car and some authority too early and you get the inevitable results. Then add the unpalatable people they have to deal with on a daily basis and it is understandable that their decisions can be rash, hasty and not always the best. I get pulled over alot in north Wales in the RS just because I drive what is seen to be an expensive car for the area. The police officer always starts with 'Just checking, we've had alot stolen from the area.' I tell them that this is not true as there is one other RS4 within 100 miles, it is black and I know the owner.
My father was a traffic police officer for 37 years and routinely crewed with another senior officer. They were routinely both armed, were both ex-Royal Marines and my dad would sometimes come home and tell me how they'd stopped a car full of violent men and found a hand gun or knives under the seats. My father always felt that he'd never been attacked because he looked like a dad, he was a father of 4. If you front up to someone you'll likely to get slapped, you see it outside bars on a Saturday night. There are ways of calming things down but you learn these after many years of gaining experience on the job, something a young officer doesn't have. Keep senior officers in the traffic cars and we'd all be better off.

Re: Police Interceptors - Flicking the V
I watched this and couldn't believe how the policeman turned it around and blamed the Volvo driver, and then called him a bully, the only bully was the cop.Fair enough the guy shouldn't have gave him the coffee beans but I think many would have done the same if they had what looked like an arsehole BMW driver pushing you into the verge. It was a totally unnecessary manoeuvre by the traffic cop, as A, he could have overtook on the duel carriageway and B, he wasn't even on an emergency call so shouldn't have needed to get past him in such a hurry. The whole program showed the police as very petty and vindictive, not a good advert for them at all.
