Explain your username

Post by MikeFish » Tue Jan 22, 2013 9:00 pm

There are some weird and wonderful usernames on this forum. A lot of the time I wonder why people chose their particular name, or if there is a meaning or just pure randomness. Some are obvious (or at least appear to be obvious), and others totally obscure.
So I thought I'd start a thread so we can share the story / reasoning behind our usernames.

Mine is quite straightforward, MikeFish is not my real name, but my surname is the Greek for fisherman so have been referred to as Mike Fish for as long as I can remember.

What's yours?

My surname is Finck and I used to be called batfink when I was younger. Just spelt it wrong when I joined up!

When I was doing my PADI diving course the instructor had referred to someone as a Tile Diver, and I thought what the hell was a tile diver... he elaborated and told me that's what you call people that only dive in swimming pools!!!

I liked the saying and have been using it on various things for over 20 years!!!

And no I'm not a tile diver, I like to dive in the real deal!!! :beerchug:

I had been wondering what a Tile Diver was for a while now. Glad that one has been sorted now.

Your Mum must be a psychic or something! She knew all those years ago that one day you would own a car with that name as a number plate!

My Mum nearly called me C989OGM but changed her mind. If she stuck to it I would have had the same name as my first cars plate!

Even worse as I am always lecturing my two step daughters on their grammar and spelling! Good job they don't go on here!
