I fancy a drive up an Alp....

I fancy booking a February half term trip into Europe with SWMBO (children staying with family) and looking for some opinions on good spots to stay in the Swiss Alps.

Doesn't need to have instant access to skiing; more interested in winter scenery, food, local cuisine and general road tripping. Want to stretch the RS's legs into Europe and take in some scenery.

Any tips appreciated.

Steve.

Been to a few resorts in Switzerland. Didn't like davos it was pants. Zermatt was lovely. The scenery is amazing and the village is lovely. Toppy though.

Saas fee is also a nice town though much smaller. Didn't think much of the resort. With zermatt you have a huge ski area too.

Lausanne - Verbier.
Verbier - Great skiing but also stunning scenery on the way up and the views....Go up the lifts to the glacier.
NB. A liquid lunch at high altitude can have a much greater effect than normal.

Which is nice.

Cheers Rob.

Drinking up an Alp comes a very close second to driving up one!

Anything in and around Serpiano. On Swiss-Italian border. Only one road to the lodge, hidden away, quiet, easy reach of everywhere else - with plenty of spirited driving opportunities along the way. Watch out for a LOT of B7 RS4s on the roads around that area.

Might be a bit quiet though...more of a spa than ski resort. Food is good, prices reasonable.

Enjoy the driving.

I would go to St. Moritz. There is are a lot of things to do beside skiing. Watch out website. Depending on budget stay directly in Center e.g. Palace Hotel which I prefer or somewhere outside.
Many RS and S as well there ;-)
