Congratulations, Sam!
Your IQ score is 147

This number is the result of a formula based on how many questions you answered correctly on Emode's Classic IQ test. Your IQ score is scientifically accurate; to read more about the science behind our IQ test, click here.

During the test, you answered four different types of questions — mathematical, visual-spatial, linguistic and logical. We analyzed how you did on each of those questions which reveals how your brain uniquely works.

We also compared your answers with others who have taken the test, and according to the sorts of questions you got correct, we can tell your Intellectual Type is Visual Mathematician.

This means you are gifted at spotting patterns — both in pictures and in numbers. These talents combined with your overall high intelligence make you good at understanding the big picture, which is why people trust your instincts and turn to you for direction — especially in the workplace. And that's just some of what we know about you from your test results.

Woo hoo I rule! I agree that since it doesn't take response times into account it can't be particularly accurate. Besides, if I'm such a smartass then why am I the dumbass of my uni yeargroup?!

Rock on

I guess they must adjust for age. I did the test and came out at 144 and Visionary Philosopher bla bla bla. I knew you had scored 147, Sam, but couldn't see where I had gone wrong so, being a deeply sad individual, paid for the results and found out that I had done the IQ test equivalent of a nine dart checkout i.e. no mistakes!

So can anyone explain why the test penalises my ageing, alcohol-pickled thought processes and gives Sam's study-stimulated cortex a few bonus points? Shouldn't it be the other way round? Shouldn't it?

I'll get me coat.

I'm not sure that I got any wrong either. The only question I'm not convinced I got correct was the last one with the circle/round-cornered squares/triangle patterns - eliminating the odd one out. But if you get marked down for age, then my 50 years must have counted against me!

I think sometimes these things like to include a question that you can't really get wrong, it's just a matter of how you see it. Am I still the highest scorer?! Awesome.

Dog, your wife is almost definately right mate. I personally think I have ADD, since when I'm doing something that interests me there's not a lot to stop me. Even in school I never had to work anything like as hard as most kids, and I got straight A's most of the time. But nowadays I just don't have the mental energy to do any work for any length of time, unless it's good active stuff you know? Ooh eck I've gone off the point of this thread a bit. Errrm, rs246.com are blatantly the brainiest! (Is this good or a geeky thing?! :s)

Rock on

Congratulations, Chris!
Your IQ score is 136

This number is based on a scientific formula that compares how many questions you answered correctly on the Classic IQ Test relative to others.

Your Intellectual Type is Insightful Linguist. This means you are highly intelligent and have the natural fluency of a writer and the visual and spatial strengths of an artist.

Insightful Linguist? I thought I was a cunning linguist.

Relative to others? Bah, I must have been marked down because Sam got in before me... It doesn't know that I've been up since 4:50am though, so I claim bonus points for that. Mind you, I did that "Test the Nation" thing and I think I scored 138 on that.

IQ tests generally assume that you will get smarter as you get older up to a certain point, so the scoring is biased towards the ends of the age range. Being slap-bang in the middle is about the "hardest" bit because you should have the best mix of youthful brain energy and life experience. So those of us who are 30+ can feel better about ourselves for putting on a decent show aginst these "young whippersnappers"!

IIRC the odd one out in the last question was the one where the triangle and circle are the same size, Pete.

Thanks - that was my conclusion. So, I'm pretty sure that I got all correct - the fact that others scored higher must be down to other factors being taken into account. Or, perhaps time to answer was being measured - I had to break off to take a couple of phone calls.

I don't think speed has any influence. I did it again at high speed and scored the same, which IMHO is the reason you can't take this one that seriously.
