Also, just pre-empting the "but its not profit until you cash it out" statements.

My goal is to build up as much btc as I can this year and seeing where it gets me in 10 years, but cashing out some profits in fiat every now and then. I will pay by CGT on the amounts withdrawn, should it go over my allowance.

Bitcoin isn't just a digital currency, the technology behind bitcoin and what has spurred from it (the blockchain), is the technology of the future. We are now in the equivalent of being in the early 90's and the start of the internet. I for one will do my upmost to have a large stake at a small price in the next Amazon, Google etc.

To put another slant on it, I believe that in the future a political movement will come forward using the blockchain as a "transparency" tool to get away from the stalemate we are currently in. Just start reading, and reading, and reading and it will all make sense in a real "lightbulb" moment. Sorry if this is all a bit jumbled up, I'm sleep deprived from trading

All the best.

Im not trying to post any swinging d*ck material, but in the interest of variety I thought I would mention that the real money is on moonshotting the smaller ($1 and under) newer alt coins. If you hit them at ICO (initial coin offering, equivalent to IPO) or as they drop on the exchange you can quite literally make 25x overnight.

My strategy is now to use the initial £2k I put in the trade my way up to being able to stake more each time, 3-4 trades a week and pull my £2k out so I'm only playing with house money. Im hedging by always having 10% in btc in a bear market and upto 50% when btc is bullish (buying the dips, selling the highs etc). I've also bought an Ethereum mining rig thats capable of mining the equivalent of £35 worth per day, ROI 4 months, clear profit after that.

I started trading on the 16th December, I'm now on roughly £12k. My advice is get in whilst you can, you will only kick yourselves. For all those FUD'ers, what was it Waren Buffet said? "Be fearful when others a greedy, and greedy when other are fearful".

Wait, what?

The money is in "moonshotting" smaller newer but your gonna plough your "profits" into bitcoin?

You bought an Ethereum rig for £4k? that makes £35 a day (really?) Isn't ethereum stopping being mined soon? (different model?)

So your actual "profit" is -£2k + (-£4k)? = -£6k?

To put another slant on it, "I Believe" says it all :biggrin3:

Ever heard of hedging?

As I said, at the time of writing I was sleep deprived. Yes I'm in the negative right now, understandably....

P.S Don't be so salty, I wasn't preaching.

EDIT: Re rig, go on whattomine and see what an 8 x nvidia 1070ti rig can pull in. Re PoS, I can switch to another currency....?

TL;DR

Something like:

Yeah I've lost £000's but I'm Up!

I trade 3-4 times a week, but I'm SLEEP DEPRIVED FROM TRADING

I can read BTC bear/bull markets . I see the future!

I can switch to another worthless/unproven/risky "currency"
