Can anyone get hold of a rack mount server cheap/free? I have some that might do the job, but it doesn't hurt to test the water.
Something I may be able to help with at last....

Minimum spec... Difiicult, but I'm looking for something that will run Windows 2000 well (or maybe Dave will come up trumps ). Probably something with RAID, and will take at least 1GB of RAM.

Let me know what you can get.

Not sure about the self patching bit, but I can certainly sort out the linux installation and take care of security for you..and the apache/php installation.

Not done much php, but just finished a contract, so will have a bit of time on my hands until I manage to find a new one!

I presume you've got the network link and somewhere for the server to sit?

I think the OS is dependent on the box we use. We are looking for performance, and the main apps are:

Web Server
PHP
MySQL

There are a few bits and bobs in PostNuke (and associated modules) that we will probably need to 'modify'. Are you familiar with PostNuke at all?

MySQL, PHP & web serving all work fine on an IIS (W2k box) - a little trickier to configure on a W2k3 box but not really rocket science once you have it in front of you.

Well I tried it several times and had errors with 'OCS controls' (Pretty sure it was that. Could you write me a doc with the IIS/PHP intergration stuff?

Cheers,

Nothing 'just sitting there' , but I will be able to get a good deal on new. We'll chat tomorrow
