Helmet

Post by toasty » Tue Mar 25, 2003 3:56 pm

Chaps,

I have an issue/problem.

Went to a bike shop today to try to get a piss-pot type helmet for castle combe and the biggest ones they had didn't fit...

Anyone else wanna own up to having a fat head, and more importantly want to let me in to where they got the helmet to fit it?

At present the closest I've got to a helmet is the roasting tin, and that isn't ACU approved.

I am off the XL variety myself - was actually going to contact CC to see what they have - have you tried them yet?

Cheers

No I haven't and considering you can buy helmets for about £30 I just thought I'd buy one, however it is proving tricky!

The biggest helmet the shop had was a 64" and it was too small. The guy did say though that different manufacturers make different shaped helmets and that I might be lucky, but all the ones I tried we just too small.

I'm not exactly sure about head sizes, but
64"

exactly how big is your head

Well I guess it is in proportion to the rest of me, but it is on the large side.

Ok, if this is gremlin is your head

Then this one is mine

But if I can't get a helmet to fit then I won't be smiling.

I did actually measure the circumference of my head as I was told this is how they size helmets and it was 63cm so a 64cm should fit, but it don't

64" head

How big is yer shaft!!! (Sorry had to ask)

I got mine from Larkspeed, so you might want to try there. I would recommend an open face helmet, gets a bit stuffy in those closed ones, but on the other hand a closed one will stop you from attempting to ingest the steering wheel/dash in a major impact....

John that's very good of you mate.

Was planning on coming to the meet tomorrow, could you bring it along then? That way I'll still have time to continue hunting if it doesn't fit.
