Water Leak Stories

Post by FaisalJ » Thu Nov 12, 2015 4:36 pm

Go on guys, make me feel better about my water leak at home, lets hear your stories.

House was extended and loft conversion done a couple years ago. Seems there was some movement in loft, which has caused grout/sealant in shower enclosure to crack and water has over time made its way down to bedroom below. Suddenly got a lot worse in last week or so. Mould growing, which is a concern with a newborn.

First contractor to come round reckons the whole ceiling needs to come down, and whole shower enclosure and tiling needs to come out. Insurers are saying they won't pay up.

Sh**

Had our central heating replaced almost a year ago (only moved in a few weeks before), New boiler and all new rads. When the guys were doing the rads in 2 of the upstairs bedrooms (above the kitchen) I said the pipework didn't look quite right, they said they're fine and not to worry.
Well, system was filled up and tested, kept losing pressure over 24hours but the guy said its cause its a big system (13 rads). As he only lives around the corner I said he better come round cause I know there's a problem, he comes round while I'm at work and tells the wife it's normal. I fill it up again cause it's cold. Well, wife came home on the night and there's a big pool of water in the kitchen. I think flat roof has failed cause the rain was really heavy. Filled system back up again and then had the brain wave that the leak in the kitchen was from the pipework upstairs. 5.30 am I finally flipped and ripped the laminate up in the bedroom and found a very mouldy ceiling above the kitchen due to sh1t workmanship. Plumber said to just claim off the insurance as its one of those things.
Decided to get the kitchen completely done as it needed doing anyway. Plumber will have a nasty suprise one day.
For those who thought, tldr, I had a water leak too.

I did wonder if this was a fetish thread. Disappointing. I've got a story about Richard III and a glass table.
