Anyone recommend decent man's wellington's/boots

Post by TimDogg » Mon Jan 05, 2015 8:40 pm

Guys,

I was looking at getting stylist wellington boots but then realised that a. Dubarry's are very expensive and b. should men even wear Dubarrys?

Does anyone have waterproof awesome looking boots in a wellington style? Also all boots seemed to be aimed at women - maybe I'm onto something there :(

Thanks :)

Not sure?

Would be interested in peoples opinion though as similarly, I've been looking over the Le Chameau Vatna boots which do have the same sort of 'style'.

Got a pair of original Hunters and I don't find them that great if walking any distance though. Can also be cold in sub-zero temps, so they’ve now been relegated to car washing duties.

Agreed they're not good for walking in. I have a pair of logging boots I used to use when shooting. They're really comfortable for walking in over rough ground and waterproof. You can't obviously wade in them though. Similar to these:

Yeah they're along the same line as my Meindl boots which I now use with a set of Paramo gators for all my fishing and photography stuff. Sometimes it's just nicer to slip into a wellie type of boot without all the hasssle of laces etc.

Yeah, I'm looking for simple slip-on also.

So far I'm looking at these (all found via 'mum's net' shudder - honestly just stumbled upon it...don't go there)

It's the sort of 'I know it when I see it' type of issue.

I heard Dubarry's were awesome but that they might still be for the ladies - personally I like them a lot and they're my first choice. Is the quality of Hunter's still OK, I heard they'd gone and got themselves being made in China now, guess that shouldn't be a bad thing?

Probably too late now, but I've got some Aigle boots which are ridiculously functional - they're neoprene lined so really toasty, but not so hot that you can't wear them year round. I just don't do them up at the buckle in the summer. They have a walking boot tread so great for mud. They're aimed at farmers and are chemical resistant, can also be found online for a lot less than the RRP.

They do some dressier looking options as well
