In light of the information in this thread does anyone know what information an Audi dealer would require to cut a key for my car. Chassis number?

I had to produce my log book, service history and a form of identification with a photo before the local garage in Bath would order me a new key. I believe the service history was to aid the parts dept to photocopy the inside front page where the build data sticker is stuck. They handed me the photocopy when I delivered the car to have the new and old keys reprogrammed. I am sure they did all of this because they have not worked on my car before, had it been Dovercourt in Hampstead, they would not have asked for anything as they know me and the car only too well.
