Star Wars Galaxies

Post by Taipan » Mon Dec 15, 2003 8:30 pm

I was just wondering if any of you played a character -or two- in the Massive-MultiPlayer Online Game called Star Wars Galaxies.

Personally, I just started as a Master Marksman with Tera Kasis and Medic capability and looking forward to either become a Smuggler or a Bounty Hunter (can't figure out the Scout nor the Creature Handler tree yet).

But gosh, the game is so huge, it may take me ages...

Counter-strike is indeed one of my favorites, with Starcraft/Broodwar being probably the top one (provided cheaters are kept at bay in both games).

I think Star Wars Galaxies is a different kind of game, very similar to Everquest : you start with a single character, you choose his race/look/skills and then climb up different tree skills by participating into solo or group missions.
The whole universe is massive (size/number of planets, number of players, etc.).
Thus the nickname "MMORPG" : Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game.

The only drawbacks : it's a pretty expensive game (USD 60 for the game, then USD 15 subscription/month) and both a powerful PC and ADSL are required.

Yipeee!!!!!

I just got myself one of the first LandSpeeders available in the whole Galaxies and paid only 40K for it, YES !!!

Although the slowest of the three vehicles, the X34 Landspeeder has the highest hitpoints, enabling it to last longer under attack, and costs least to repair.

Other vehicules available :

The Swoop Bike boasts the highest speed of the three vehicles but, in contrast, has the lowest hitpoints and highest repair costs.

The Speeder Bike offers an even statistics across the board, consisting of a medium speed, hitpoints and repair costs.
