I've been looking at mobile broadband such as THIS
Anyone use it?
To get full mobile broadband do I have to use a dedicated modem or can I get similar data speed and volume through a phone linked to the pc via bluetooth or a cable?
TIA

RE: Mobile broadband
Ive used the '3' usb plug in. Its effectively a huawei e220 usb modem. I connected to the high speed service HSDPA and it would get about a 1MB connection. Good for being on the move but wouldnt replace a standard cable/adsl solution at the moment.
If your phone has a specific data contract it may be able to be linked to the pc instead. Just dont go over the data allowance or your bill will go up quicker than an S4's running costs.

From the blurb I've read it seems to say that the dedicated modems are faster than standard 3G. Vodaphone seems to offer the best deal.
If I could get it through a phone rather than just a modem it's one less box to carry

RE: Mobile broadband
I've got a Vodafone 3G Data Card as I'm site based with no landline. Unfortunately the reception is crap where the site is and I can only connect to the GPRS network as there's no 3G/HSDPA signal so it's not the quickest.

I've got a Vodafone 3G card too. Very good on 3G and GPRS is acceptable. Makes a big difference having this access on my business laptop with the miles I do.
I've got one of these, £15 a month, it's excellent:
