Holiday quandry

Post by bobjebb » Thu Feb 15, 2007 12:22 pm

My wife and I have a holiday booked, and I've just had a call from British Airways stating that they have been told that the hotel we are staying at has overbooked. "We will be upgraded to a better room in their sister hotel" blah blah.

The thing is, the sister hotel is not as nice.

Has anyone been in this situation before, and dug their heels in? Or anyone know the best way to play it?

The group is elegant http://www.eleganthotels.com/

We were due to stay at Crystal Cove, but now moved to Turtle beach. Neither are outstanding by any means but the location is ruling it out for us. Stalled BA on this until tonight.

Any advice welcome before I call Nikki Campbell. Thanks.

Bob,
You could always say that you will take it on the proviso that if it fails to meet your high expectations in anyway whatsoever, you reserve the right to seek, claim and be paid compensation up to the value of your holiday. And get them to acknowledge your terms and conditions.

I was once on a diving holiday and our group was bumped due to overbooking...but the hotel was actually a lot better and we were all so pleased that we'd been bumped!
