So I am thinking about getting it and I have a few questions:
Is it good ?
How much is it now ?
And does it provide Dolby Digital or DTS on broadcast ?
Cheers
Sky Plus
Re: Sky Plus
There is a subscription charge too isn't there?
I haven't looked into it in detail yet.

Re: Sky Plus
my brother has it, I think its £15 per month on top of normal Sky with a one off fee also.
First impression is its really cool, its so great its just like......a video recorder...
but it is better, pausing live TV etc and digital quality recording.

Re: Sky Plus
IMHO it is really worth it...
I had it installed about 2 months ago.
I haven't used the video recorder since
It costs me an extra £10 per month for the Sky+ subscription but I got rid of the movie channels to compensate for this extra fee.
The box is built by Pace. It has an optical audio out and S video connections. So if Sky broadcast in Dolby surround then there is no reason why your amp couldn't decode it accordingly.
AS posted earlier, it pauses live tv which comes in handy. Also you can rewind live tv up to one hour if you've missed anything or forgot to pause it. Holds about 20 hours of recorded stuff. Programing for recording is dead easy. Your missus (or you ) will never miss Eastenders again!
I was a bit dissapointed that it is £300 to buy the box but I would reccommend it to anyone. You can buy it cheaper but there are different deals around at the moment with Sky.
If you need any more info just shout.

Re: Sky Plus
I believe that some of the footy is in surround, but apart from that it appears (according to sky.com) that only some of the movies are broadcast in DD 5.1... Sky infoHow much stuff is broadcast in Dolby Digital apart from movies ?

Re: Sky Plus
Hmmm, I've always wondered about Sky+, this has been good reading.
It sounds a bit disappointing though that more stuff isn't broadcast in 5.1, but I guess it makes sense. How many TV programmes would have the budget to employ someone to mix the 5.1 sound track? I'm just guessing, but I bet its not cheap.
How much of the movies are broadcast in 5.1? And are any of the music channels broadcast in it too?
