Due to a shortage of funds, I'm reluctantly having to sell my much loved S4  and downgrade to something cheaper, like a Golf

2000 'V' reg. S4 Avant, silver, black leather, 6CD, 38,700 miles, centre armrest. The car is in perfect condition, apart from a few scrapes on the alloys, and is totally standard - i.e. no mods (not sure if that is good or bad around here).

Now reduced to £14,750

Price is too high mate.
You said in an earlier thread that you were looking to sell your car above £13k but nearer £15k.
(I'm still looking)

Clive,

I know I had said that before. After that, I checked a few price guides, and found the following:

Parkers (Private Good) - £15240 (2000V S4 Avant, 40k miles)
WhatCar (Private) - £16,572 (2000V S4 Avant, 40k miles)

So, I decided that 15k was a bit too low to start with. I thought £16,000 o.n.o. was a reasonable starting point, given that I can always reduce the price or accept a lower offer - if I had asked for 15k, people would have expected to knock me down to 14-14.5k probably.

Anyway, I'm open to offers ;)

I think it’s a fair price, if it is in a1 condition, I would be willing to pay 16k for a mint S4 on that year.

I paid 17.5k in January this year for a 2000(w) S4 with 43,000 on the clock

In the search for my car in January, I came across a lot of battered S4's with high mileage and a many of them were just not looked after full stop.

From your pics, it looks a very mint car

Good luck with the sale :)

Bazza

I'd hold out for that kind of money as well. Late, low milage S4's are getting increasingly rarer, there are loads of early high milers around for the £13k mark.

All the best with the sale,

Ben

Final comment - I just missed out on a low mileage (35,000) 2000 W reg at £14,500 private sale. A dealer picked it up (for £14K? who knows?). They now have it up for sale at £16,995 - £3k is a lot to pay for a 12 month dealer warranty and a nice valet! Anyway, I think on balance £15k is about the right mark for the low mileage but relatively low spec.
Good luck, its a nice car - I'm sorry but I've decided I'm definately going for the saloon.
Best rgds, Clive

Clive,

Good luck finding your saloon. In my experience the Avants usually command a premium of around £1,000-1,500, so you should have a better chance of getting a saloon for £13k.

Hi Andy,
I just found a saloon with just 27,000 miles on a T reg (April 1999) for exactly £13k - too good to be true do you think?
The service history and condition of the car do support the reported mileage, just seems very low on a car 5 1/2 years old.
The spec is rather basic (no leather, but heated seats, 6 CD changer, BOSE sound system, 18" wheels).
Also, does anyone know when the "2000 facelift" kicked in?
Cheers, Clive

I think the first cars appeared in November 99

No, that's quite posible. My car had 31k miles when I bought it, and in 18 months, I've only put around 8k miles on it. If you project that out, if I kept my car for 5 years, I would put around 26-27k miles on it.
Actually, that's another reason for selling the car - I don't really do it justice! Since, I get the train to work, and have 2 kids, I don't get much chance to take it for a spin :( The car just sits parked in the driveway most of the time

Regarding the facelfit - I'm not sure exactly when it started, but my car is a facelifted model :P
