RS4 Brake discs

As part of a general 'going over' for the RS4 (service, tyres, clutch -under warranty thankfully!-, paint etc) I've also had the brakes replaced including the discs (standard). The old discs weren't in too bad order (a bit scored) so the garage which looks after another car of mine, as an experiment, had them skimmed by a specialist. They look good as new, however I have absolutely no idea whether it's ok to do this with them. Can anyone enlighten me? And if it IS ok to do this, does anyone want them...? (cheap!)

Interested as mine were possibly suspect and I cannot afford a new set already!
Car also goes for service in a week dso ideal timing if you need space in your garage!
Sent a PM for idea of cost.

Yes you can skim or surface grind them, as long as they are turned/ground using the mounting face as a reference face.
You should ensure they are still within tolerance though. I believe that all manufacturers have to quote minimum thicknesses for disks, so as long as they are more than this there should be no propblem.
One thing though. If they are drilled disks make sure the drilled holes still show a chamfer. If they do not then they will almost certainly start to grow stress-cracks from these holes.
Cheers,
John.
