Exporting new Audi RS4 to New Zealand

Hi all,
I am looking to purchase a new Audi RS4 Avant from a european based dealer (I live in London, UK) and export this back to New Zealand. I'm a newbie to Audi's but they are simply the best looking estate on the market and I am Sold, Sold, Sold!!!
I have looked into all aspects of dealing with the car once I get it back to NZ, but would love some advice with regard to getting the best deal at this end.
- Where am I best to buy one from, Germany / Netherlands?
- How much cheaper are they on the continent as opposed to the UK?
- Are dealers in Germany happy to arrange such a deal from the UK?
- Should I get a container, or roll on roll off? Experiences anyone?
- Does anyone know of web sites that may have additional info?
Basically, I've never done anything like this before so any help or advice you can offer would be much appreciated.

If you are looking for a new RS4 then you are out of luck as they stopped selling them a couple of years ago so all you will be able to find now are 2nd hand ones. Add to that the fact that you need a RHD one and that doesnt leave you much option than the UK as you will not find any RHD on the continent. Would advise you get a container then you can fill it up with your other personal stuff as well.

Still a couple of new and unused RS4 in Swizterland , speculators with LHD versions only.

As others have advised, if you're exporting a RHD then it'll have to be a used RS4 I'm afraid.
In response to your questions about sea freight try any of the major shipping companies, P&O would be a good start but please shop around - container rates vary enormously between carriers [img]images/graemlins/thumbs.gif[/img]

A little off-top but there is a Audi specialist in yorkshire who has had this Misano RS4 for ages and he`s not got a for-sale tag on it and its always inside in the dark..... maybe its a low-mileage one he`s keeping in storage for future sale/use?

container rates vary enormously between carriers
This is something I can help you with, I work at a container terminal with various shipping agencies on site. Let me know if you need some contact tel numbers.

RHD are availeble in Japan, Malta,canada,Australia,
singapore. practicly anywhere where they drive lefthandside
yes only second hands or you might find someone to covert too righthand drive in Germany " Anton Meuller " in
Augsburg is a specalist for convertions or try WEFRA
Werner too his friends,but he's a bit excentric and seems to be tight when comes to downpayments.

you can usually find roll on roll off space at a good rate through a comercial shipper.i can give you a uk no if required.

Think that one might be sitting in my garage now. Mine was owned by a collector/enthusiast in yorkshire who had an RS2 as well and kept them stored somewhere. Apparantly his RS2 was also sold this year with 18000miles on the clock!!!

It could be.... it was at David Underwood Audi specialist.
It was a fine looking example and didnt have a forsale notice on it, always parked inside away from view too.

Funny how he crops up.... Do the VIN numbers match?
I went to see him when I got my RS, and he commented on how easily he would be able to break into it... I promptly left.

So why dont you just buy a 2nd hand one in NZ ?
We have approx ~30 in the country, and there is approx 1x for sale every quarter.
This way you wont suffer extra depreciation on the car as a 2nd hand import.
PS I own a RS4 and live in Auckland, NZ.
