As mentioned above, it is quite alot of money but I think it is a real bargain.
It's only a few thousand more than I paid for mine back in the summer, it has a slightly lower mileage and has all of the mods done. Well worth the money.
B7 prices are dropping but good B5's are still holding good money (similar to 993 and 996's I guess...).

Good luck with the sale Nils, I really hope it goes to someone who appreciates the car for what it is.

If it had been for sale back when I was looking I'd have been doing whatever I could to get an extra £3k.

Cheers,
Des.
Just can't get the smile off my face......

As stated, my B5 has gone to it's new owner.

I didn't realise how depressing and upsetting it would be to watch comebody else drive away in 'my' car.

Abit about the new owner, mature gentleman, previously owned a B5 years ago, and has been itching to get back into one for a while now. He was looking for a B5 for a while before mine came up.
Initially searching for Black with Silver leather, however that soon changed when he stumbled upon mine on PH.

Then came to have a look, went for a drive, and knew this was the the B5 to buy. (There was no way anyone who viewed my car would pass it up, we both knew this!)

Then came the offer... £24k... Good offer, very good as some would have thought, (few people thinking the asking price was highly optimistic on my part)
I explained that at that price I was not going to let her go, gave a list of reasons, being a few 'standard' examples have been sold for £22-23k in the last couple of months etc.

He then asked what I would accept as a reasonable offer... so I said asking price!

Next thing I knew we were shaking hands and sorting deposits.

Anyway, today the fella met me at a local train station, we sat down in the car, went over all the specifics (SatNav functions, spare keys, warranty on mods etc). We both took a stroll over to a bank over the road, where I payed in the Draft for the remaining amount.

I then handed over the keys with a lump in my throat

I will still be browsing the forums as I have made quite a few forum buddies over the last few years. Hoping to be in an Audi of some sort by the end of the year maybe (fingers crossed)

Thanks to everyone on here for their invaluable advice and help.

As per forum tradition, a couple of pics as she drives away

Good man for sticking to your guns - but she is / was one of the lowest mileage examples in the UK.

Those driving away photos are depressing - it brings it all flooding back!

Nills, Nice one. I sold mine on Sunday to a forum member Hektor and as you say it breaks your heart watching your pride and joy drive away. I am still gutted and have a horrible sick feeling in my guts and at the moment I am driving a 12 year old Mazda 323 1.5 and there is absolutely no comparison even though I know its only going to be short term!

Thanks for sharing my sorrow guys, Nige/Paul, knew you'd understand!

What I do know is that she has gone to a very good home. (more of a collector, who owns a number of prestige and classic motors)

1.3 diesel corsa for now... (he says whilst a tear rolls down his cheek)

Well done on price, looks like low mile B5s will start to demand quite a large premium. I looked around 2 years aga and prices were lower then even though the cars were effectively two years newer.

Maybe us B7 bods can live in hope ..... although somehow I doubt it.

i very much doubt it...way too many built for them ever to be as rare
unless of course all the chavs that buy them / steal them write them all off, and only enthusiast owner examples remain !
