RS4 spot rates

Post by same » Mon Oct 10, 2005 2:10 pm

Just been offered job in Singapore which means the beast has to go in the next month or so. If anyone here has sold/bought a v high spec 4 recently could you let me know how much it went for/cost so I can advertise it at the right price. Spec is: May 2001, Black with Black interior, MTM stage 3 with Milltek, short shifter, Movit front (6 pot) and rear - 3.5K miles - H&R springs and 19" wheels with ps2's - all 1.5K miles old, sunroof, side airbags, centre armrest, I'm first owner and it's done 68K miles, never been tracked, used as everyday car to get to work so mostly all motorway miles, FASH plus work by QST- infact Kim has just serviced it and given it clean bill of health.

I know JR sold his bits and then the car to a trader, is this a more sensible way of maximising the return?

Many thanks

Sam

I think it probably is unless you can find someone who wants a modified car and understands the value of the mods...

Sounds like a nice car with top mods though...you shouldn't have a problem selling the bits I shouldn't imagine.

I remember seeing a documentary on hong kong, where "business men" will pay loads of mony for high spec german cars, I think it was a Top Gear thing. Not sure how the taxes would work though.

Sam,

I'm sure that taking it with you would be nice, but as K2 says "Not sure about the taxes" is one to watch.

Whilst working in the Far East, a few year ago, spotted an RS4 outside the hotel, in Kuala Lumpur. During a quick chat, with the yery young owner, he casually informed me that the local car import taxes, in Malaysia, were 100% (Obviously he had more money than sense, or more likely, his dad has  )

Apparently this was being done, to disuade the importation of foreign vehicles, thus protecting the sales figures of their local manufacturer (Proton) :assflash:

So much for free trade, eh?

Enjoy Singapore, I'm sure you will :beerchug:

Cheers,

Andy

Ps. Should you decide to go down the 'back to standard and selling off bits' route, can I have first offer for the Movits?
What make are the wheels? If MTM's I would be interested in them too

Your never gonna get the money back on mods when you sell the car back into the trade, the only way is to take off what you can sell it privately, and then trade the car, when i sold mine the dealer wasnt prepaired to give Anything extra for the 30K worth of mods done to the car!!!!
I know of at least 3 cars with the same mods as my car had and they all went with the mods on for silly money.
Best of luck Sam
Cheers

Data Point : Sold mine to the local Audi dealer last week for £25250. 45k mile '51 Reg in Avus Silver / Full Leather with sunroof, satnav+,phone, TV, PhatNoise. Unmarked alloys and no marks aside from paintchips. Unmodified though... Could have likely got more privately but I didn't have time and didn't want the hassle. FWIW, this is slightly more than an independent offered.

Thanks everyone for your replies. The tax in Singapore is extremely expensive and you have to prepay for the car to be recycled. They only allow cars to be kept for 10 years and you have to pay extra for a license plate at auctions. Most expats rent or lease cars to get over the hassle. So it's time to offload the four wheeled toys for one that sits on the water! So i'll post details of the bits for sale plus car probably late November/early December. Also if anyone is interested I've got a 7 litre Lister Jag convertible to dispose of as well as an Aston which arrives soon!
