B5 S4 2.7 Bi-turbo

Post by mr_tim » Mon Mar 03, 2008 4:50 pm

For sale an Audi S4 2.7 Bi-turbo in Ming Blue pearl.

Full Audi/Audi specialist history including original invoice (£40,307.05)

This car was supplied with the following options from the factory;

Metallic paint
Buffalino Leather
6 CD Changer
Bose Concert Sound System
Electric glass sliding sunroof

Deposit placed June 98, reg'd oct 98

MOT passed with flying colours in October '07. Owned by a VAG enthusiast, and before that a business user doing motorway mileage.

Engine
The following work has been done in the last 5000 miles:
2 new turbo tronics K03 turbos with 360 bearing and uprated spindles (no worries about imminent rebuilds!)
New cambelt, water pump and tensioners
Full major service with genuine parts
Modified exhaust manifolds to solve the common rattle problem
2 pre-cats removed
Full silicone hose set
New diverter valves
MRC re-map and health check (est. 350bhp)

Suspension and wheels
New front bushes
Apex springs
Audi RS6 18" wheels

Interior
In superb condition with half leather and blue Alcantara seats
Full electrics
Re-gassed air-con (ice cold)
Electric sunroof
Full bose sound system
The windows have a very light tint

Body
The metallic ming blue paint is very deep and glossy
Xenon head lights
Aero wipers
Chrome mirror covers (not currently fitted)

The car has covered 137,000 miles, and having test driven 10 cars in my search, I found this example to be better than 80,000 mile cars I tested and has the benefit of having had the major works (turbos, cambelt, waterpump) done - a £2000 job.

Having changed from an Elise to this S4, this car has impressed me greatly with it's amazing capabilites and solid build, but I have a hankering once again for something more raw.

£6,000

"Modified exhaust manifolds to solve the common rattle problem "

Can you expand on that? Having had that problem too with my S4, I would think replacing the manifold is the only way to fix it. The welding mod I had tried actually likely screwed up my turbos (welding was done in-situ).

I have a 98 model with 35K on the clock, I have all the bills and the guy who I got it from had it from new.. mine had the recal for this, I have all the paper work saying engine pull and replace manifolds. and I talked to the guy about it. This would have had the same done.

Hi and sorry to hijack your thread. However you have mentioned the uprated K03s and would like to know who Turbotronics are and get some provenance on these so-called uprated K03s. I can't find a contact for turbotronics - any idea where they are based or do you have a contact. It all seems a bit of an urban myth at the moment!

I got a feeling it may be t/technics(or t/dynam) ..... I need to do some research as an old aquaintance opened up a very successful turbo tuning shop, he was on a tv motor show pulling his Sierra(i think) over 200mph ..... the issue was that moment he didnt have his harness or s/belt on either ..... but the guy knows his <beep> ....
Mark S ....

my moped was faster than his tho ... (85mph) .... :jump:

The info is based on what the previous owner stated. What I do have is the invoice from an Audi specialist for reconditioned turbos (albeit with no mention of Turbotronics). For me knowing that I wouldn't have to pull the engine for a good while was more important than potential performace gains of bearings and spindles!

I've found reference to the company eg. here. But beyond that I don't know if the spelling is correct, if they're still around etc.

The bottom line is the turbos have been sorted.

I used to own this S4 and they are deffo uprated K03's and turbotronics does exsist! They do mainly Jap stuff but the job that was bone on the turbos is better than the job done on my cosworth turbo, which was done ty turbotechnics!!! As tim says the turbos are sorted and will see another 130k (if looked after properly). The performance is very good and the car got 343bhp on the rolling road!!
Shame to see you are selling her mate!!
