He is very open about it being a total loss in the past. Is he just covering his ass or is it a bit of a pup?

More than iffy Cat B is a breaker!!!!!!!!!! Cat c is repairable with a vic check, cat d repairable no vic check. How hes got the docs for i honestly dont know,Neadless to say i wouldnt touch it with a barge pole.Genuine mileage with no service history whatsoever!!!!!!!! And just to finish it all off they are Ps1 not Ps2 tyres!

Remember this a few months back. He was on this forum but wouldn't explain how this Cat B is still on the road. As already mentioned this should have gone straight for breaking.

Sounds an absolute dog but may be viable for parts.

Desperately trying not to turn this in to a discussion but trying to weigh up at what point this car make financial (if any) sense.

At what point would a B5 RS4 be written off? How much is an engine, plus say bumper, headlights, front panel and radiators?

Should we as www.RS246.com step in and offer him a price for all the parts?

I'm interested in the body parts for an RS$ conversion!

This car had a small amount of damage too the shell on the n/s front , it is not possible to buy a shell so it's a writeoff .

If i had 10k i would get it for the parts....

I find conflicting things for cat B... as follows...

- Category A: Beyond repair vehicle must be crushed
- Category B: vehicles body must be crushed, may be used for supplying some replacement parts
- Category C: vehicle has been extensively damaged and repaired
- Category D: Vehicle has been damaged, insurer decided not to repair

Cat A- total burnouts, not legally allowed back on the road.
Cat B- Very heavy structural damage, (i.e. bent chassis), needs a VOSA inspection before being allowed back on the roads.

Cat C- Cars which can be relativly easily repaired, but doing so is uneconomical. Inspection needed.
Cat D- Majority fall into this- cost of other stuff eg hire cars, labour exceeds cars value. Also 'new for old' schemes where the car damaged is less than a year old.
