RS MTM All Road - The RS6 that never was!!

Post by jammyhl » Wed Mar 08, 2006 10:04 pm

This car was Kim Collins demonstrator (QS Tuning) and personal runaround. She had all MTM goodies added at new, as well as being the only Allroad at the time painted in Noggy Blue. The car also featured as cover car for Audi Driver. I understand Kim developed this as the mid-price RS6 - she certainly has similar performance for half the price!! And you get to enjoy a sweet 6 speed quick shift manual gearbox...

Sensibly Kim based the upgrades on a highly specced Allroad 2.7T which includes Recaro front and rear two-tone leather seats, Bose speaker upgrade, 6 CD in dash player, plus the standard items such as front and rear parking sensors, dual zone aircon, cruise control, Bi-xenon headlights, etc, etc.

The car is an 02/2002, has done 45500 miles, has been serviced either by Kim or Audi Docklands, is valeted every month, had new tyres at last service, and comes with some tax and mot.

Extras fitted are:

QST/MTM Engine Improvements taking it to 350hp
QST fitted Big GT2 front and rear brakes
MTM full bore exhaust
RS6 alloys
Lowered suspension
QST fitted Quickshifter

Unfortunately now has to go due to house build project..!

Asking £22,500 ovno

Now this may be a really silly question, but given that it's got 350BHP, how can it do 0-60 in 4.4 seconds? Given that it's the same car that the RS6 Engine is in, I would have thought with less power it must be slower, unless it has truly obscene torque?

Got me thinking as well ... an S4 with the same power would be running high 4 seconds - I'm pretty sure the all road must be heavier with it being based on the A6 chassis?

When we were just wee boys my mate believed that the General Lee launched itself at will without the need of a ramp cos it was mid-engined and was filled with helium in the boot and under the bonnet.

He is now a married and has at least one kid.

Being an idiot is not something you grow out of apparently.

Think somebody got that wrong, MTM claim 5.8s. Or 1 sec slower than similarly powered S4.

Oh well - all I could do was quote the details from the test in Audi Driver magazine, and the feedback from Kim. Maybe he had a tailwind when doing the timing runs. But from experience I can guarantee that an RS6 struggles to outgun this car, and only shows a difference over 140'ish. Thats an awful lot of premium to pay to benefit from performance you'll rarely be able to use..

As for my reasons for sale, I try and do everything at once. We're just completing on a conversion project and will be in a caravan for 9 months, but at the same time I need some motoring entertainment to keep my mind of the living conditions...!
