Ok its official.
Somebody has seen fit to employ me in NZ.....who would have thought!
That means I no longer need my current number plate RS04 THE
I really dont care what I get for it but the sale has one condition and that is that it costs me NOTHING to get a new plate put on. So you have to cover all transfer and new plate costs.
Oh and it has to happen relatively quickly as I am off very soon
So make me an offer and Ill decide by the end of the weekend

Tried these guys, they were such a pack of self righteous fu%kwits on the phone I have decided to just let the plate expire. I can't be arsed dealing with people who should never have been allowed into the world.
I wasn't exactly happy about leaving the UK but the more I deal with people who clearly do not want any business the happier I become.
Further to this, unfortunately the plate is officially toast. I don't have enough time to put it on retention and ship the car according to DVLA. Seems a waste but I couldn't give the thing away, it will soon be up on an NZ garage wall.

I know what you mean and it would cost more in advertising costs than the plate is worth, but it will bring back happy memories when you replace your RS
Good luck in NZ if only i was younger i'd be doing exactly the same
When's your flight ?

Car ships out on the 18th of May for 10 weeks in a shipping container! We follow about a month later...though not in a container...we splashed out on a plane ride....

Can you not put it on retention from NZ and sell it or does the car actually have to be here to do that? Seems odd when it is all electronically done?

Are you saying that you will let it go for the cost of retention then? So long as it costs you nothing?

Yep I asked them that and its a no go as the car is registered as 'exported' and the plate dies at that stage so I cannot put it on retention from NZ.
My problem is that I need a printed V5 to land the car in NZ that matches what it was exported on. Herein lies my problem, they cannot get me a printed V5 to copy and give to the exporters before the car leaves the UK and this is supposedly a requirement. Its all about preventing criminal gangs 'hiding' and cloning cars and then shipping them off.....apparently.

Get this man a medal!
Sorry that was rude.
Yes that is what I was implying, I was kinda hoping to get a few quid from it but I thought in the end it was better off going to someone over here when I was never going to be able to use it in NZ. I have use of the plate I RS4 I in NZ!

Fair play man. I am just struggling to understand why this plate hasn't already gone if all your asking for is basically £105. On this forum no less?
I would take it, but don't have an RS4...

I know! I thought it was a great deal for someone!
I am making a few more enquiries tomorrow to double check that all the info I have is correct. I don't want to see this plate die just because I have some ill informed DVLA employee.

I would have / would have had it from you Kiwi but you moving was right when I shelled out some serious wedge to get my car back into pristine condition and my bank account is not a bottomless pit. Have some spare cash now hence why I'm asking. My current plate on the RS could go on my SEAT.

Andy, it's too late now unfortunately. Car is in a container and has been marked as export so plate is now defunct. I didn't have enough time to place it on retention and get the paperwork through in time for NZ customs. Blow out on my behalf but who knew how freaken useless the uk DVLA was.

Ok no probs .. I suspect if I wanted it I would be able to extract it from DVLA.
So my car, or should I say yours is going on a very long journey, my god !
