C5 RS6 Saloon - "Sarge" 56k, RNS-E & warranty
Posted: Sun Sep 30, 2012 10:09 pm
Having owned "Sarge" for almost 18 months, the time has reluctantly come to find him a new keeper.
(I've had an even better year than planned in my business and brought my upgrade plans forward)
The car has been very well known on this and other forums and really has been cared for whilst in my care and by previous owners.
As Dave (previous owner) said to me, "When people say buy a forum car, this is what they are talking about!"
When I bought the car it wanted for only a very few minor details and was missing only a couple of upgrades - I have attended to these and in my ownership I have:
Upgraded the SatNav and RNS to full RNS-E (including full digital TV and satnav upgrade)
Had the wheels fully refurbished (powder coated) by Lepsons (same colour)
Replaced the front screen (genuine audi)
Upgraded the wiper arms to Aero (OEM Audi)
New battery and alternator (last month)
New control arms all round
And regularly treated the leather to a generous coat of gliptone
I also meticulously lubricated all the rubber seals with Audi's hard to find specia oil on the doors, boot etc to ensure there are NO rattles, squeaks, clonks or otherwise.
The car drives without fault and is in outstanding condition, the wheels unmarked, it was recently serviced by Grizz at Unit20, then checked at QST last month when the alternator was replaced and I had an oil service done at the same time to top it up. The car is rarely left dirty and washed with top quality products and always with the two bucket method. Oh, and my children are only allowed in it without shoes on
...I have a healthy dose of OCD, in case you hadnt guessed.
I bought the car at 42k, and its only really done long journeys in the main in my ownership; this car is superb for long runs and eats the miles effortlessly - I have averaged over 20mpg most of the time (showing 22.5 over last 2k - but you dont buy a V8 for fuel consumption!), and the noise!! There when you want it, subtle when you want to cruise. Its not been thrashed or launched either (I have a clio race car for that behaviour!) (oh, and always run on Vpower or Tesco 99)
Dave had a Gold Warranty Direct policy on the car and I've maintained it - they have been excellent and paid out for the alternator, fan control module and control arms when they failed, without question. The warranty is comprehensive, fully transferable and will come with the car.
Anyway, on with the details:
