Excellent write up Ringo
There are a lot of things to take into consideration when buying - if you're not carefull you could end up paying out a small fortune on top of your purchase price....yikes !!!!

Thanks Ringo. Mine doesn't have a sunroof as the previous owner felt it took away from headroom.
..........not sure exactly what you are on about here......"took away from headroom"
.......it's a saloon with no sunroof........useless to me I'm afraid, but thank you for your input.

what area are you in?
check the DRC suspension, check to see if its been replaced and what with. I would also recommend checking when the cambelt was last done too as most of these cars are 8- 9 years now so should of been replaced a least twice. i`m sure others will be along soon and add to this.
....hiya johnny11 I'm in Merseyside. Yep, the DRC is obviously a must, along with cambelt. Failure to notice this would set you back 3-4k at least....yikes !!!
MEV wrote:Welcome and good luck with your search!!! Great advice in the buyers guide for you to follow. DRC, Cam belt and solid history is absolute key. If you can have the intercoolers looked at and check all the usuals like brakes and tyres they cost a small fortune to replace. Have the car inspected by a specialist before you commit and if they complain run a while.
I too am out on the look for a 6 ideally a Plus and with the avoidance of ambushing your thread matey I have seen 4 this week and been all over the bloody country..... another this pm and I just dont understand why people can think they can get away with selling a car thats in sh*t state and demand 4k ish over the official value of the car!! For christ sake where do these people come from??

I looked at this black one which was covered in tree sap, green moss and needed brakes, tyres, trashed wheels, a complete upholstery update, new mats, front light housing probably a re spray and the list goes on. The description was comletely inaccurate and who says the camera never lies!! I was polite and said I wont be driving it as the car might fall apart as I go down the drive. He weanted over £13k!!! Hes having a giraffe. That said I have seen one thats close.. but needs a service and new rear tyres ( over £1500 maybe?) .... It to is more than 2k over retail price (Glasses guide) I am pondering an offer but might need a nudge of advice.
I have had 4 different valuations on cars so far and they are so low its obviously scarey for owners I appreciate that but if you want to sell well above market value then surely you have to present a car in immaculate condition with all bells and whistles to get anywhere near that. That or hope some mug comes along with a white cane singing like Stevie Wonder.
Anyway survice to say Iam too still looking if anyone has a decent priced well speced beast. Im your man! Loving yours PhilT but youve left me nothing left to do to it!

Excellent rant lol.......I've looked at a goof few too.....
I can't understand how owners of high mileage RS6's expect them to sell easily......you can't get warranties......they always need lots doing to get them near enough....etc.
The ones I have seen, have all been terribly stonechipped, have terribly saggy leather interiors, and the lower mileage ones are always 200 miles away.
Even if you do find a good one with high mileage, you have to also think about what would it be worth when you come to sell it on with even more miles on the clock....nigh on impossible !!
I'll keep looking 'till a good one comes along/.....thanks all
Anyone seen this, looks perfect:
