2001 Avus B5 RS4 627PS

Post by GINGER_JACK_RS » Sat Jul 09, 2022 10:27 pm

Hi all, Its time for me to finally move this car on.
I've posted a couple of half arsed adverts, but to be honest I never really wanted to sell it. Now my life has changed quite drastically in the last year or so, I now need to move it on for real.
So, I brought this car from a very nice guy called Gary (MPGMAN? On here) from Torquay in May of 2016, with I think around 133000 miles on the car. And Gary had brought it from a chap named Pete from the midlands. I often get asked if this was Pete's old car, so I think it was fairly well known.
Before Pete had the car it was owned by Chris Minshall whilst he was working at MRC I believe. It was during this point it became the spec it is now within reason. Before Chris it was owned by Tom Cockings and also Doug at MRC at some point so she has been around a bit. (The logbook states 10 previous keepers, But its dated 07/10/21 for last change, Which was when I changed the plate, so may not be as high as that)
I am a VW specialist mechanic, I have worked at The Phirm, RD Garage services and VAS motion. All very reputable places. My personal level of work is very high and I pride myself on doing things properly. Since owning the car I have been the only person to work on it. This may put some people off, but I have endeavoured to keep the car in the best running order I can, whilst using the best parts where possible. I have also tried to keep the best record of the invoices for parts that I can.
So enough about me and the history, The car, Its currently residing in my garage with a brand new genuine cambelt kit, thermostat and pierburg water pump ready to be fitted when i find an evening spare. It hasn't moved since its last MOT in August of 2021. I drove it home, put it on trickle charge in the garage and pulled up my drive, leaving it stranded ever since.
It currently has 139705 miles on the car. The engine has done far less.
It doesn't do much mileage,
the brief history is
2017:- MOT Mileage 135771, Had an oil change service. Genuine filter and sump plug, Shell 10w60 oil
2018:- MOT Mileage 136774, Had an oil change, Spark plugs (NGK BR7IEX from memory gapped correctly), Fuel filter with new washers, and pollen filter. The air filter wash cleaned and oil. Brake fluid was also changed.
2019:- MOT Mileage 138111, Had an oil service, Genuine filter and Shell 10w60
2020:- MOT Mileage 138744, Had an oil service again.
2021:- MOT Mileage 139680, Had oil service, Pollen filter and brake fluid flush.
Every year all of the transmission oils are checked and if needed topped up, and any other parts are replaced. Gearbox and diff oils replaced by MRC 2015, 128000 miles.
There is quite an extensive file of receipts, from the engine work from Chris, to the map sensor, last year.

The spec:-
Engine:-
Built at 120123 miles 14/10/15 by MRC/ Chris
RS4 AZR Engine block, Not original to car.
Stock pistons
034 Rods, All bolts, gaskets and hardware replaced.
Low mileage uncracked AZR cylinder heads. Low mileage cams, chains and tensioners also fitted.
3" downpipes
Scorpion resonated exhaust
Modified original airbox
Reconditioned RS6 C5 turbos with billet 4x4 turbines.
Tubular MRC manifold, Ceramic coated, no blows, OS was rewelded in 2019.
Custom larger diameter intake pipes (from Y Pipe to inlets)
Custom front mount intercooler
Custom large boost pipes from intercooler to throttle body, welded metal elbow, not soft rubber.
630cc injectors (not sure on brand or exact flow)
Custom file to run it all

Engine Dyno print of 627ps at 5862RPM
851NM at 4568RPM.

Transmission:-
MRC solid flywheel
Stock RS4 Clutch friction plate and cover plate.
Transmission gearbox support brace
Clutch handles power fine, even when hot. Have not abused it as away its on its limits for torque load.
*Gearbox is noisy in 1st gear, there is a distinctive whine, only in 1st gear, I was going to address this and fit an uprated clutch, however I simply do not have time, and do not want someone else to do this work for me. I was considering a rebuilt unit with newer JHM shift collars etc from Jock. But I simply don't have time.* Full honesty for anyone interested.

Braking:-
Front B7 380 6Pot ceramic brakes, Pads approx 40% worn, Stripped and regreased every year due to lack of use. Discs are unchipped and in fantastic condition. Genuine Audi pads. I have modified the arch loom to work with genuine wear indictors when the time comes for replacement. These fit with the factory bolts and brackets. Nothing is modified to make these fit.
Rear B7 RS4 steel brakes, The original calipers seized and these seemed to obvious upgrade choice. Original RS4 Handbrake cables fit the calipers with slightly squeezed arms.
HEL Braided stainless hoses front and rear,
Run on genuine Audi brake fluid, I buy in bulk so don't have an invoice, avoided aftermarket fluids as if its good enough for Audi, it good enough for me.

Chassis:-
PSS9 Bilstein coilovers, Run fairly low, But still drive great. These were fitted around 2014 by Pete.
H and R front and rear antiroll bars,
MRC Rear ARB support brackets.
19x9.5 Rotiform IND wheels.
5mm front and rear wheel spacers, with longer bolts and colour matched caps.
CUP2 Michelin tyres, fitted in 2020, Brought new from Ebay, After one tyre had a bulge in it. Had midrange tyres before, which I find insane. 265/30/ZR19 93Y. Have done approx 1000-1200 miles.

Body:-
This is a non-sunroof, factory Nav car.
Heated and electric black leather front seats, embossed with RS4, Still visible. Very good condtion.
Rear seats in also very good condition, Rear headrests had screens fitted. I have removed all the drivers and wiring for these, but the screens are still in the rear headrests. I was looking for replacement headrests.
Alcantara RS4 steering wheel. Not genuine trim, has been trimmed aftermarket. Colour looks correct.
Alcantara RS4 gear knob, Black alcantara feels genuine I think.
B7 RS4 Pedals
Factory nav still works (although on 2012 disc I think)
All dash pixels work. Everything electric in the car works.
There is a DVD unit in the spare wheel void that I have wired into the aux in on the TV module. Although it doesn't now have analogue TV reception, It does have the ability to use the head unit screen for DVD video. There is also an iPod lead in the cubby hole, but this is old tech now so quite obsolete, however still works.
The body work is very presentable. However there are some really quite small areas that may need some attention, depending how fussy you are. There is some blistering on the bonnet, and a small car park dink on the passenger rear door.
Both of the front wing inner arch liners are worn, this is fairly common, but also being low with these wheels don't help matters. The engine undertray is also missing.
The front bumper is something that has bugged me since I have owned the car, It has been cut to fit the intercooler in behind. The power steering make shift cooler pipe had rubbed a hole in the AC condenser and subsequently lost its gas. I have fitted a touareg PAS cooler, and replaced the condenser. However, I have gathered parts to fit side mount intercoolers back into it and return it to looking standard. With the car can come, Genuine RS4 PAS cooler pipe, Genuine uncut (albeit black) B5 RS4 Front bumper, and hens teeth genuine standard RS4 intercooler brackets. My plan was to fit a set of wagners, with all the factory cooling parts to return it to standard look. I also have a front panel in case the one on the car has been cut and I haven't noticed it.
There is a mocal oil cooler in place of one of the intercoolers, so will need to be relocated after.

All in all, I think I have covered most of it. Any other questions please ask. I have tried to be as open and honest as I can be. This is a very fast and competent car, that just needs a few bits to bring it right up to a great standard.
My phone number is 07714243240.
You can also WhatsApp me for any other pictures, or info and I will do my best to respond.
My email is thursby_2@hotmail.com

I would like £27,500 as a start point for the car. however, I will not respond to lowball offers, people I feel are test pilots, or general timewasters. No drives unless you have funds, and i will be driving even if "you are insured".
Thanks. Jack

I must add, The cambelt will be replaced before its sold,
The MOT will be done too
And the private plate will not come with the sale, But the original plate will.

Hi Jack, on the off chance you decide to break the car, I'd be interested in the brakes and suspension.

If not, good luck with the sale.
